Job Summary:
As the speech and language pathologist, you will work with a dedicated team of school-based professionals to foster and facilitate effective speech and language services including screening, assessment, and identification of students with a wide range of speech-language deficits which adversely affect their educational progress. You will develop and provide direct and indirect services within the educational setting, based on IEP goals and objectives. You will support and inspire students to achieve important milestones that will contribute to academic success leading to college and career readiness.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Complete relevant screenings, plans and assessments legally required.
  • Provide instructional interventions for qualifying students in K-12th grade in individual and small group settings.
  • Provide guidance, feedback and support to building staff, administrators, families and outside agencies regarding effective strategies concerning speech disorders.
  • Collaborate and communicate with other educators and administrators with regard to academic and behavioral matters of qualifying students.
  • Participate in professional development/training sessions and team meetings.
  • Maintain data collection, student records and documentation while complying with confidentiality laws including Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA).
  • Support MTSS/RTI, evaluation and intervention efforts for students in the areas of receptive and expressive communication and augmentative/alternative communication.
  • SLPs are assigned to James Irwin Charter Schools based on caseload to limit travel and maximize time with students.
Qualifications:
  • MA in Speech and Language Pathology required.
  • Possess or be eligible for Colorado Special Providers License with Speech Language Pathologist Endorsement.
  • Endorsement in the content area.
  • Knowledge of Colorado Severity Rating Scale.
  • Knowledge of augmentative communication devices.
  • Completion of an approved program or willing to enroll/complete an approved program in speech pathology from an accredited institution of higher education.
