As such, we are currently seeking a Senior Hydropower Project Engineer specializing in Hydropower, Dams and Hydraulic Structures. The candidate will work closely with an interdisciplinary team that includes civil, mechanical, hydraulic, geotechnical and electrical engineers, as well as estimators, schedulers and other construction professionals to provide various services to internal groups for the development of HDH projects. This role presents a unique opportunity to act as an internal consulting engineer at Kiewit, with access to Kiewit’s resources and experience to ensure that design work is carried out with the best constructability guidelines in the market. Responsibilities will include managing HDH technical integration, which consist in overseeing the technical integration of hydropower projects, ensuring seamless coordination between various engineering disciplines, supporting business development efforts, participating in proposal preparation, supporting estimating and construction planning and managing project timelines and budgets. The successful candidate will demonstrate energy, enthusiasm and strong collaboration and coordination skills while providing technical, quality and safety leadership on projects. Location This position will be based out of one of Kiewit’s Denver, CO or New York, NY office with occasional travel as business necessitates to project sites and other offices (up to 15%). Other Kiewit office location maybe considered based on individual's background and experience. Position could also qualify for flexible remote work based on the candidate's experience. Responsibilities In collaboration with the HDH Technical Integration Discipline Lead: Manage and improve technical interfaces on hydroelectric powerplants, dam and spillway projects. Work with multidisciplinary teams to identify, mitigate project risks and optimize hydroelectric projects as a whole. Contribute to the execution of hydroelectric engineering projects, including interfacing with consultants, manufacturers and internal teams. Support HDH business development efforts for Kiewit's various districts in North America. Contribute to technical proposals by defining scope, schedule and budgets. Support the development of Kiewit's HDH engineering team by leading initiatives to structure the team, its processes, tools, etc. Support the growth of the hydroelectric engineering team by participating in recruitment and integration efforts. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil Engineering or in a related field combined with experience in the hydropower market, dams and hydraulic structures. 15+ years of experience in the hydropower industry in the U.S. or Canada. Strong technical background in hydropower systems and integration. Proven track record of managing projects, engineering scopes packages and leading cross-functional teams. Experience in project delivery models involving direct collaboration with the contractor (one or more of early contractor involvement, design-build, progressive design-build, etc.). Experience in consulting engineering will be considered an asset. Experience with an equipment manufacturer will be considered an asset. PE in at least one of U.S. state is required. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, along with strong problem-solving and organizational abilities. Efficiency, customer focus, autonomy, initiative, ability to work independently and prioritize.
