Location: District Wide

Reports To: Director of Special Programs

Certification:
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification through the BACB Licensed Applied Behavior Analyst (LABA) certification;
  • Michigan licensed behavior analyst in this state who is currently certified and in good standing with the BACB, and that supervision satisfies current BACB supervision requirements.
Position Type: Non-Administrative - Professional - 185 Days

Salary/Benefits: Commensurate with experience and certification(s) and full benefit package.

Position Summary

The Behavior Coach at Caledonia Community Schools will play a pivotal role in supporting the implementation of positive behavior support interventions and programs across the district. This position involves collaborating with school personnel, students, parents, and community agencies, to address behavioral and educational concerns within a supportive environment.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities
  1. Behavioral Support Interventions:
  • Plan and implement behavior support interventions, strategies, and programs for individual students, groups, or school-wide initiatives within Caledonia Community Schools.
Consultation and Collaboration:
  • Consult, counsel, and collaborate with school personnel, students, parents, and community agencies regarding behavioral and educational concerns, utilizing a multi-tiered system of support (MTSS) framework.
Behavioral Services:
  • Provide direct services to students experiencing moderate to significant behavioral challenges, including conducting functional behavior assessments (FBAs) and developing positive behavior support plans (PBSPs).
Professional Development:
  • Develop and deliver professional development sessions for district staff and administration on behavior management best practices, data collection methods, functional analysis, and related topics.
Meeting Participation:
  • Participate in Continuous Improvement Teams, Behavior Support Team meetings, Individualized Education Program (IEP) meetings, and other relevant district meetings as needed.
MTSS and PBIS Implementation:
  • Support the implementation of Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS) and Positive Behavior Interventions and Supports (PBIS) across Caledonia Community Schools.
Data-Driven Decision Making:
  • Guide district-wide problem-solving and implementation planning through a data-driven decision-making process focused on capacity building, fidelity of implementation, and student outcomes.
Community Liaison:
  • Serve as a liaison with community agencies regarding behavior support services and collaborate on student interventions to ensure comprehensive support.
Parent Support:
  • Assist parents in assessing and implementing positive behavior strategies in home and community settings to reinforce student success.
Additional Duties:
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Special Programs, which may include conducting skills-based assessments, maintaining behavior support plans, and providing ongoing support to students and families.

Qualifications/Requirements/Skills
  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) certification issued by the Behavior Analyst Certification Board (BACB).
  • Master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis, Psychology, Special Education, or related field.
  • Experience working with children or adolescents in educational settings, preferably within behavior support roles.
  • Strong knowledge of behavior analysis principles, functional behavior assessments (FBAs), and behavior intervention plans (BIPs).
  • Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Experience developing, writing, implementing, and evaluating individual behavioral programs
  • Experience training staff in behavioral principles and procedures

  • Critical thinking skills and problem-solving
  • Strong computer skills
  • Maintain consistent attendance and punctuality

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand, talk, and hear, and sometimes walk and sit. While performing the duties of this job, the employee may occasionally push or lift to 50 pounds, such as boxes of books and AV/VCR carts. The employee is directly responsible for the safety, well-being, or work output of other people. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision such as to read handwritten or typed material, and the ability to adjust focus. This position requires the individual to meet multiple demands from several people and interact with the public and other staff.
