Electrician Foreman

The position of an Electrician Foreman is available immediately at East Central ISD. All individuals (district employees included) who are interested in this position must apply online through Frontline via the district website. POSITION FUNCTION/PURPOSE: Responsible for on-site leadership of day-to-day electrical repair and maintenance operations ensuring district facilities are operating efficiently. Responsible for maintaining, repairing, and installing electrical systems, services, and equipment for the district. Maintain and provide for the safe condition and operation of all electrical systems and fixtures in all district facilities.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Maintain preventive maintenance schedules, inspection, and procedures for all electrical systems and equipment.
2. Inspect all district facilities and buildings and initiate work orders and/purchase orders and repairs as needed.
3. Conduct on-site inspection of completed repair projects, monitor and inspect contract work.
4. Assign work order to craft personnel and assist / oversee completion. Initiate contract repair when work cannot be performed by district staff. Estimate cost of repair to include labor, materials, and other related costs.
5. Install and repair wiring, electrical fixtures, power equipment, control and distribution apparatus, and components of machinery and equipment following electrical code, manuals, specifications, schematics, and blueprints.
6. Install and repair control and distribution apparatus, including motors, relays, switches, HVAC circuit-breaker panels, etc.
7. Install and connect power supply wiring, cables, conduit, and electrical apparatus for machines and equipment in new and existing facilities following diagrams, schematics or blueprints as approved and needed.
8. Test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components using testing instruments and equipment.
9. Diagnose and resolve problems in electrical circuits, systems, and equipment and test continuity of circuits to ensure compatibility and safety of components.
10. Measure, assemble, and install electrical conduit using measuring devices, hand tools, pipe threaded, and conduit bender.
11. Report needed repairs on buildings, grounds, and equipment following established inspection procedures as identified.
12. Ensure proper operations to power source for all appliances.
13. Inspect jobs upon completion and ensure areas are clean.
14. Receive and complete work orders in a timely manner. Select material and hardware and calculate time and materials estimates. Maintain accurate records on material and labor used.
15. Troubleshoot fire alarm systems, fire sprinkler systems, PA systems, elevators and wheelchair lifts, and complete vent hood inspections and contact contractors as needed.
16. Maintain inventory of district-owned tools, equipment, and materials.
17. Work with building mechanics, principals, district staff and supervisors to schedule and complete projects and work orders.
18. Assist in preparation of department budget, recruiting, screening, selection, training and evaluation of employees.
19. Must be available to respond to emergency calls after-hours and work extended hours as needed.
20. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties, including lifting and climbing. Operate tools and equipment according to established safety procedures.
21. Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and promptly report any conditions that are not immediately correctable to the supervisor.
22. Perform preventive maintenance on tools and equipment to make sure that equipment is in safe operation condition.
23. Wear safety and protective gear (PPE) and equipment at all times.
24. Follow established procedures for locking, checking and safeguarding equipment, tools, and facilities.
25. Review, participate and complete all Safety Trainings.
26. Perform other duties (Projects) as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education/Certification:
High School graduate or GED
Valid Texas Driver's license
Valid journeyman electrician license
Master Electrician (Preferred)
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Ability to understand detailed written or oral instructions
Ability to communicate effectively and work independently
Ability to operate power-driven equipment and tools
Ability to diagnose and resolve problems
Knowledge of electrical circuits and wiring operation principles of motors
Knowledge of local electrical codes
Ability to perform mathematical calculations
Ability to use hand and power tools
Ability to read blueprints, schematics, and written reference and material
Experience:
Four years' experience in electrical field minimum
Maintain required CEU's for licensure

TOOLS/EQUIPMENT: Electrical measuring and testing equipment; hand tools; power tools; light truck or van, electrical and testing equipment; soldering iron, wire puller, pipe bender and threader, saw, drill, trencher, concrete saw, ladder, and other equipment and tools.

WORK CONDITIONS: Mental Demands/Physical Demands/Environmental Factors: Maintain emotional control under stress. Frequent standing, kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing/pulling, twisting; working in tiring and uncomfortable positions. Work around electrical power lines, outside and inside. Frequent walking, climbing stairs/ladders/scaffolding, grasping/squeezing, wrist flexion/extension, and overhead reaching; frequent driving. Heavy lifting and carrying (50 pounds and over) on a daily basis. Work outside and inside, on slippery or uneven walking surfaces; frequent exposure to extreme hot and cold temperatures, dust, fumes, odors, toxic chemicals and materials, noise, vibration, and electrical hazards; work around machinery with moving parts; may work in tight or enclosed spaces; may work alone; ability to work extended hours and occasional prolonged hours; frequent district-wide travel.
