Job Title: Retail Receiving Associate

Position Type: Full Time Hourly

Location: 4901 Coolidge Highway, Royal Oak, MI

Job Summary: As a Retail Receiving Associate, you will be responsible for the efficient processing of incoming shipments, ensuring accuracy in inventory records, and maintaining organized storage areas. Your primary focus will be on receiving merchandise, inspecting for quality and quantity, and preparing it for sale or storage. You will collaborate closely with other team members, including sales associates and managers, to facilitate smooth operations and enhance customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:
  1. Receiving Shipments:
    • Receive incoming shipments from vendors, carriers, or other sources.
    • Verify the accuracy of incoming merchandise against purchase orders, invoices, or shipping manifests.
    • Inspect shipments for damage, discrepancies, or defects and report any issues to appropriate personnel.
    • Unload, unpack, and sort merchandise according to established procedures.
  2. Inventory Management:
    • Update inventory records and systems to reflect received merchandise accurately.
    • Label, tag, or mark received merchandise with appropriate identification codes.
    • Organize and store merchandise in designated locations, ensuring accessibility and efficient retrieval.
    • Conduct periodic physical inventory counts and reconcile discrepancies as needed.
  3. Documentation and Reporting:
    • Complete receiving documents, such as receiving logs, inspection reports, and discrepancy forms.
    • Maintain detailed records of received merchandise, including quantities, condition, and storage locations.
    • Generate reports on receiving activities, inventory levels, and supply chain metrics as required.
  4. Communication and Collaboration:
    • Communicate effectively with vendors, carriers, and internal stakeholders regarding shipment status, delays, or issues.
    • Collaborate with sales associates and store management to prioritize merchandise for stocking and display.
    • Coordinate with other stores’ personnel and receiving associates for the transfer of merchandise between locations.
  5. Safety and Compliance:
    • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines for handling, storage, and disposal of merchandise.
    • Follow company policies and procedures regarding receiving, inventory management, and workplace conduct.
    • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements, such as product labeling, handling hazardous materials, or maintaining sanitary conditions.

Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional education or training in logistics, supply chain management, or related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in retail receiving, warehouse operations, or inventory management preferred.
  • Familiarity with inventory management software and other receiving tools.
  • Strong attention to detail, accuracy, and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Physical stamina and ability to lift, carry, and move heavy or bulky merchandise.
