Job Description

CRT Medic, as part of the critical response team, and under the direction of the hospital medical director, performs care appropriate to the patient population served and meets routine and life-threatening patient care needs. The CRT Medic may be required to respond under non-emergent or emergency conditions to provide assessment, stabilization, and treatment of life-threatening conditions utilizing skills within the CRT Medic's scope of practice as set forth by the hospital medical director.

Responsibilities

Responds to Medical Emergency and Critical Response Team calls within their assigned facility.

Acts as the code team leader in the absence of a physician or APP.

Provides appropriate patient care interventions including basic life support, IV/IO insertion, medication administration and management, advanced airway management including rapid sequence intubation, ventilator initiation and management, cardiac defibrillation, cardioversion, and pacing, and

Provides emergent and nonemergent care to stabilize and maintains patients for handoff to transport team.

Gathers and submits appropriate patient data necessary for continued treatment in a timely manner.

Interacts and communicates information and ideas to all levels of personnel within the organization.

Ability to recognize conflicts with personnel, patients, and other customers and to appropriately intervene.

Understands and ensures regulatory and code compliance (JCAHO, OSHA, EPA, Radio Licensing, etc.)

Remain up to date with current best practices in critical care patient management.

Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Required Education: High School Diploma or GED

Preferred Education: Associate degree in healthcare or related field

Required Licensure and Certification: Virginia Paramedic certification, American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support, American Heart Association Pediatric Advanced Life Support, American Heart Association Healthcare Provider CPR, VAVRS or VDFP EVOC, FEMA ICS 100, 200, and 700

Preferred Licensure and Certification: National Registry Paramedic, CCP-C, FP-C, or CCEMT-P , American Heart Association instructor, American Heart Association Advanced Cardiac Life Support - Experienced Provider

Preferred Experience: Previous critical care transport experience
