Pulmonary Therapist

Centra Health is seeking a highly skilled Respiratory Care Practitioner I to join our team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality patient care and support to individuals with respiratory conditions.

• Assessment and Treatment: Continually assess and treat patients with a variety of respiratory conditions, utilizing prescribed protocols and evidence-based practices.
• Ventilation and Airway Management: Perform ventilation and airway management using appropriate techniques, ensuring patient safety and comfort.
• Diagnostic Testing: Conduct diagnostic testing, including pulmonary function testing, screenings, cardiac diagnostic testing, and inhaled specialty gas administration, as applicable.
• Emergency Medical Care: Provide emergency medical care, including cardiopulmonary resuscitation and artificial respiration, as needed.
• Monitoring and Consultation: Monitor patients' physiological responses to therapy, including vital signs, arterial blood gases, and chemistry changes, and consult with providers if adverse reactions or conditions occur.

• Transportation: Transport ventilated patients safely and efficiently.
• Other Duties: Perform other duties as assigned by management, ensuring the highest level of patient care and satisfaction.

• Education: Graduate of an accredited Respiratory Care Practitioner Program.
• Certifications and Licensures: Credentialed by the National Board of Respiratory Care as a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) or Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT), and licensed by the Virginia State Board of Medicine to practice as a Respiratory Care Practitioner.
• Basic Life Support: Obtain Basic Life Support certification within 60 days of hire.
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support: Obtain Advanced Cardiac Life Support and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications within one year of hire.
