Job Description
About the Role
The Retail Merchandiser creates and maintains store merchandising and visual displays that celebrate the variety of merchandise while supporting sales and maintaining inventory flow. S/he/they will demonstrate a background of working directly with people from diverse racial, ethnic, geographic, and socioeconomic backgrounds, using a welcoming, inclusive, and accessible approach.
Essential Duties
- Creates profitable, appealing, and functional merchandising and visual displays.
- Creates and reviews daily/weekly merchandise sales reports for merchandising planning, daily stock replenishment, and a profitable turn of store inventory.
- Suggests inventory markdowns and maintains ongoing merchandising flow of clearance merchandise.
- Creates and maintains signage including product descriptions, promotions, and special events/exhibitions awareness.
- Communicates continuous merchandising, display, and stock organization information to sales floor team to assure their merchandising knowledge including where back stock is located, additional packing, etc.
- Works with staff on in-store display maintenance.
- May perform other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge, skills, and abilities:
- Must have visual merchandising or related experience.
- Must be self-motivated with strong problem-solving skills.
- Ability to operate equipment safely including hand trucks, utility carts, and step ladders.
- Scheduled hours are Sunday-Thursday, 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, with occasional holidays, late evenings, and early mornings.
- Physical labor such as repeated lifting, bending, stooping, and climbing a step ladder.
- Must be able to lift 40 lbs. Including transporting and packing and unpacking large quantities of merchandise of varying sizes and weights, sometimes large and heavy.
- Work without supervision.
