Description

SUMMARY:

The Radiologic Technologist I is responsible for accurately positioning patients and ensuring that a quality diagnostic image is produced. They work closely with radiologists, the physicians who interpret medical images to either diagnose or rule out disease or injury.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Maximize utilization of x-ray services

  1. Prepare patient and documentation for diagnostic testing
  2. Obtain EMR charts and orders of x-rays to be done on patient
  3. Take patient to x-ray room; make sure patient is properly dressed in gown, jewelry off, etc.
  4. Flip out proper patient room flag indicating that x-rays have been completed
  5. Ensure physician needs are met to increase resource utilization
  6. Query physicians about their needs
  7. Educate physicians concerning services provided
Ensure Customer Satisfaction
  1. Perform diagnostic test
  2. Position patient for x-rays to be taken; set correct technique to be used for procedure;
  3. Complete x-ray series and take patient back to room
  4. Ensure film is developed; send to PACS for doctor review
  5. Take all x-ray requests by other departments
  6. Assist doctors in various duties when needed as assigned
  7. Provide superior service to ensure customer satisfaction with patient/provider
Prepare and maintain the exam room, supplies, and equipment
  1. Clean x-ray rooms daily, including tables, upright buckys, all knobs, chairs, stools, sink and counters
  2. Change linens
  3. Disinfect as needed
  4. Refill soaps
  5. Ensure exam rooms are clean and ready for each patient
  6. Ensure all x-ray equipment is maintained and functioning properly
  7. Order all needed supplies as assigned
  8. Perform regular maintenance on x-ray equipment
Appointment Efficiency and Volume
  1. Maximizing Volume and Appointment Efficiency through work-ins and communicating availability in schedule
  2. Improvement process in Total completed exams vs Total In Complete exams
Perform administrative duties as directed
  1. Answer phone and questions efficiently
  2. Take messages and follow through when patients are finished
  3. Make CDs for patients requesting their films to take to other facilities or for their personal use
  4. Ensure that a release has been signed for patients requesting their x-rays
  5. Prepare surgery lists for each doctor
  6. Ensure doctors are satisfied with all films taken
  7. Send films to hospital or SCP on day of surgery
  8. Check daily for cancellations or add-ons as assigned
  9. Assist in training personnel
  10. Keep up-to-date on state regulations for safety and equipment, including state regulation policy manual.
  11. Mail back all outside films that patients leave here
  12. Work at satellite clinics as assigned
  13. Timeliness for charge entry, imaging 24 hour turnaround time
  14. Accuracy of charge entry, checking edits
Requirements

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  1. One year of experience preferred
  2. Graduation from a Certified Radiologic Technology program
  3. CRT and ARRT Certification
  4. Current BCLS certification
  5. Ability to conduct quality control studies
  6. Ability to use computerized radiologic equipment
  7. Ability to operate a computer for recordkeeping purposes
  8. Ability to establish effective working relationships with patients and staff
