Harbor is looking for a Data Specialist. As a member of the Data Management Team the OhioMeansJobs - Lucas County Data Specialist is responsible for collecting and interpreting information on a consistent basis to demonstrate the value of the services offered at OMJ- Lucas County. The Data Specialist will support the Front Desk/Reception Staff of the OMJ Resource Room.

Position is full-time

Education/Experience/Other Requirements:

  • Associate’s degree in business, data systems or closely related field with two years of experience in data interpretation, retrieval entry and report writing from a database. Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Position requires experience and all-around knowledge working in a networked environment, including troubleshooting skills; strong computer skills helpful.
  • Working knowledge of database design: Salesforce, CFIS, ARIES.
  • Experience developing and running reports.
  • Must be a team player, learn protocols quickly and be competent to train others.
  • Must have strong attention to detail, and be able to communicate (verbal and written) effectively with a variety of individuals.
  • Must be patient, conscientious, self-motivated, independent, and productive.
  • Specific education/training in computer science preferred.
  • Must have valid driver’s license, acceptable driving record, and be deemed insurable through Harbor’s vehicle insurance carrier.
  • Knowledge of principles and processes for providing customer services. This includes customer needs assessment, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Experience with supervision/monitoring /assessing performance of staff to make improvements or take corrective action.
Essential Job Competencies/Primary Duties:

  1. Accurately and timely enters and monitors client, employer, and service information into identified database systems (State, County, and Harbor systems).
  2. Follows guidelines for maintaining security of data and reports.
  3. Reviews data error reports and does the necessary follow-up to ensure the data compiled in reports is accurate.
  4. Runs reports and initiates corrective action as necessary to ensure accuracy and completeness of data.
  5. Produces, reviews, and monitors outcome reports and provides reports to program manager and director used in monitoring program efficiency and effectiveness.
  6. Provides backup to registration specialist.
  7. Test IS functions as they are developed and/or modified.
  8. Serves as a data resource for management, program, and support staff.
  9. Plans, develops, directs computer training and user manuals for staff.
  10. Supports staff in gaining access to all necessary County/State systems in support of OMJ programming.
  11. Ensures proper filing and storage of data entry documents.
  12. Assists with implementation of customer satisfaction evaluation process and reporting.
  13. Assists with reporting of outcomes related to OMJ to partners, county, and state stakeholder.
  14. Assists with developing reports as requested by program manager or director.
  15. Keeps current with trends and developments related to essential job competencies, and demonstrates continued growth.
  16. Supervise work activities of OMJ Reception staff to ensure adherence to quality standards, deadlines, and proper procedures, correcting errors or problems.
  17. Provide OMJ Reception staff guidance in handling difficult or complex problems or in resolving escalated complaints or disputes.
  18. Evaluate work performance of OMJ Reception staff and when concerns arise identify the cause and work towards timely resolution.
