Description

Under the direction of the Community Development Director, and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, this position is responsible for supporting the implementation of community development initiatives and programs. The Community Development Administrator will demonstrate cross-cultural intelligence and sensitivity while serving as bridge builder between Community Development program participants, staff, volunteers, community partners, YMCA members, and the community at large.

Background: At the Harris Y we are redefining our community. Through our South Boulevard Initiative, we are building community by supporting the acculturation and socio-economic upward mobility of Latino immigrant families with low income and limited literacy or low education levels living in the South Boulevard corridor. We are not prescribing services or telling our community what they need. We are working with and not for our community. With the support of our community partners and collaborators, we are serving from within and side-by-side with our Harris Y community through various programs and initiatives.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Expand impact in local communities, by supporting the implementation, execution and evaluation of Community Development programs and initiatives
  • Maintain a solid care/support system for program participants, including communication and an active agency referral network in collaboration with Community Development Director
  • Provide administrative support to the Community Development Director
  • Produce Community Development quarterly Data/Impact Report
  • Create and distribute marketing materials to promote Community Development programming
  • Translate written materials in English and Spanish, and provide interpretation as needed
  • Assist the Community Development Director in planning, organizing and implementing community development events
  • Create and maintain shared digital system of records for resource sharing and referrals in collaboration with Community Development Director
  • Identify gaps in offerings and advocate for change based on needs
  • Participate in regular, relationship-based supervision with the Community Development Director and engage in setting personal goals for self-development
  • Attend Community Development Advisory Team monthly meetings and South Boulevard Community Partners quarterly meetings
  • Work alongside Harris YMCA staff to support community development programs and initiatives

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Associate's Degree or at least 3 years work related experience in community development required
  • Required languages: English and Spanish (read, write, and speak fluently)
  • Knowledge of computer-based technology skills, including Microsoft and Google Applications
  • Strong organization, interpersonal, and written communication skills
  • Experience with program management (administration, budget, metrics, reporting, etc.)
  • Ability to manage confidential materials
  • Cross-cultural competency and familiarity with communities being served
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with diverse individuals, groups and organizations
  • Must be able to relate well with others and always promote a positive environment

Requirements

The midpoint for this position is $14.94, we typically offer new hires between the min-mid of the range unless they have higher than average experience for this role.
