Neuroscience Care Coordinator Nurse

Our hospital is seeking a Neuroscience Care Coordinator Nurse to oversee the acquisition, clinical operation, staff, and training in the use of multi-modal monitoring equipment. The candidate will ensure that patient data is accurately recorded and translated into quality clinical information, maintain equipment and train colleagues in its use. The appointed Neuroscience Care Coordinator Nurse will adhere to hospital policies and procedures, including patient care requirements for all age groups from neo-natal to geriatric. Safe direct care is required, with a commitment to delivering a therapeutic environment. The candidate will work collaboratively with the healthcare team, educating and reporting to colleagues in a timely manner of any developments in patient safety.

  • Key Responsibilities:
  • Serve as the technical and clinical expert for invasive and non-invasive neuromonitoring
  • Deliver safe direct care to an assigned group of patients
  • Maintain a safe, comfortable and therapeutic environment for patients and families
  • Work in collaboration with the healthcare team to implement and document individualized care plans
  • Assist with or institute emergency measures for sudden, adverse developments in patients
  • Administer medication and document and communicate clinical findings
  • Dedicated to the acquisition, clinical operation, staff and learner training in the use of multi-modal monitoring equipment
  • Implement processes and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable quality metrics and practice expectations
  • Train and educate staff in the use of multimodal monitoring equipment
  • Keep abreast of new treatments and share findings with appropriate members of the care team
  • Work within Hospitals, Nursing division and departmental policies
  • Encourage patients to actively participate in their own care

Qualifications and requirements:

  • Program Graduate with nationally accredited nursing qualification.
  • 3 or more years directly related experience including experience in epilepsy or neurology such as EMU, NSI, Neuroscience ward or clinic.
  • Current RN in NM or as allowed by reciprocal agreement by NM.
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support qualification.
  • Physical ability to lift heavy objects.
  • May be required to travel to various work sites and to work rotating shifts, holidays, and weekends.
