Job Title: Quality Inspector Job Description Jewelry polishers work closely with bench jewelers to reform gemstones and precious metals. As a jewelry polisher, you use a variety of electronic and hand tools to remove dull coatings or scratches from metal jewelry made of silver, gold, or platinum. When manufacturing a new piece of jewelry, your duties include detaching a rough cut of the jewel from the metal, placing the frame into a machine that does a rough finishing, and buffing the surface of the piece with increasingly fine abrasive to bring out the shine and remove uneven surfaces or fingerprints. The polishing process also makes the design of the jewelry more noticeable to observers. Your responsibilities also include maintaining and inspecting your tools regularly to achieve the precise results clients want. What Are the Qualifications to Become a Jewelry Polisher? Although there are no formal qualifications to become a jewelry polisher, some technical schools offer a vocational program in jewelry crafting. You can also obtain the Certified Technician designation by taking an exam offered by the Jewelers of America organization. This certification and training provide you with the equivalent of a year’s experience. From there, you can move up to the Certified, Exprienced, and Master levels. These jobs offer more responsibilities and provide skills that transfer to polishing. Job Type This is a Contract-to-Hire position with a duration of 90 days. What's in it for you? Weekly pay Benefits: 401k, vision, health, dental Work Site This is a fully on-site position in Warwick, RI.
