Inpatient Coder Apprentice

- The Apprentice - Inpatient Coder role is responsible for the accurate assignment of ICD diagnostic and procedural codes for inpatient records; abstracting data elements from the EMR to determine accuracy and completeness of the inpatient record.
- Required Minimum Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs)
- Education:Associates Degree in Health Information Management and/or Bachelors' Degree in Health Information Management, or other science based degree such as nursing preferred.
- License/Certifications: Registered Health Information Technician (RHIT), Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS), Certified Inpatient Coder (CIC) or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) required.
- Experience: Three years of experience as an outpatient coder at an acute care or academic teaching facility required.
