What You Will Do:

We are seeking an experienced Engineering Team Lead to join our growing team at our Nashville office. As the Engineering Team Lead, you will serve as a structural expert, leading the design of structural elements and systems across various project types, including manufacturing, distribution, data centers, commercial, towers, signs, historical preservation, adaptive reuse, and renovations. You will lead a team of engineers, provide mentorship, and contribute to our culture of innovation while ensuring the highest quality standards are met.

This position focuses on the Telecom sector, and we are looking for someone with deep expertise in telecom-related structural systems and projects.

Responsibilities:
  • Lead and manage the design of structural systems for diverse project types, particularly in the telecom sector.
  • Interact with clients, attend client, architect, and contractor meetings, and provide leadership in reviewing structural documentation.
  • Supervise and mentor junior staff, helping them grow professionally.
  • Prepare design calculations and oversee the preparation of construction documents.
  • Review shop drawings and submittals, perform site reviews, and prepare RFI responses.
  • Coordinate across disciplines to ensure deliverables meet client expectations and Bennett & Pless quality standards.
  • Performing QA/QC of work performed by others
  • Manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
  • Lead and mentor the engineering team, supporting their professional development and growth.
  • Partners with HR to address any personnel issues or questions for team members.
What We Are Looking For:

Qualifications:
  • 8-15 years of experience in structural engineering with a minimum of 3 years in the telecom industry and prior people management experience.
  • Professional Engineering license is required.
  • Seismic experience is required.
  • Experience with industry standard software, including but not limited to Microsoft products, Bentley (RAM) products, RISA, EnerCalc, Adapt, etc.
  • Project management experience/ability is required.
  • Structural design experience utilizing different construction materials and structural systems; including but not limited to wood, steel, load-bearing light gage steel, concrete, post-tensioned concrete, and masonry design in low to mid-rise structures.
  • Working knowledge of Revit is required.
  • Client management experience is required.
Skills and Competencies:
  • Must be a self-starter and always willing to listen, learn and improve.
  • Ability to identify applicable codes in project-specific jurisdictions and apply to the project.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written are required.
  • Must demonstrate team leadership ability.
