This position requires an energetic and organized person with proven knowledge, skills, and abilities in achieving quantitative placement goals, knowledge and experience preparing clients for employment, developing unsubsidized jobs with private and public employers, placing clients into jobs, and providing follow-up support services to assure job retention. Must demonstrate and apply knowledge about disabilities, including disability and privacy laws. Ability to communicate effectively with clients and staff, exhibit effective customer service skills, promote client self-advocacy skills and counseling skills. This position provides and coordinates a wide range of supportive employment services. The program's practice model is based on the Individual Supportive Employment with Long-Term Vocational Supports as defined by the Department of Justice. Assist adults with a wide range of mental health issues and conditions in obtaining employment.

We are hiring an IPS Employment Specialist in McDowell County

We offer a $1000 sign on bonus, meaningful work and supervision on a supportive team.

  • Pay Rate: $19.00-$23.00 based on education and experience
  • Bonus: $1000 sign on bonus
  • Schedule: we are hiring for full time hourly positions Monday- Friday with flexible scheduling NO on-call or crisis work or response
Responsibilities:
  • Assisting individuals to set and achieve goals to gain employment based on their career preferences
  • Providing benefits information and support to help people maintain a high quality of life
  • Facilitating relationships and serving as a link between the individual, guardians, local agencies and the community; especially as it relates to employment, benefits and independent living
  • Minimizing the negative effects of psychiatric symptoms or substance use that interfere with the person's ability to work or maintain employment, providing supportive counseling
  • Working with Vocational Rehabilitation to ensure people are able to access benefits and support through our partner agency
  • Linking and partnering with employers and employment agencies to find preferred job opportunities
  • Developing relationships with employers in Buncombe county
  • Provide support for individuals in a variety of ways such as vocational assessment, job development, training, technical assistance, monitoring safety conditions, transportation and follow - along support.


Position Requirements:
  • Bachelor Degree required in Human Services field preferred
  • Behavioral health, substance use disorder, and/or employment or vocational experience preferred
The Location: RHA IPS Position serves McDowell County. The position is a member of a multi county team serving McDowell, Buncombe and Caldwell counties.
