Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to join our Genitourinary Medical Oncology team. The ideal candidate has exceptional internal medicine skills and oncology experience. They will work with a multidisciplinary team providing direct patient care services. Primary hours will be Monday-Friday day shift with flexibly to meet patient needs. No evening or weekend call. Job Duties & Responsibilities
  • Promote and maintain high standards of patient care throughout the continuum of cancer diagnosis
  • Elicit detailed and accurate patient histories and preform complete physical examinations.
  • Order appropriate diagnostic imaging and tests to determine medical and post treatment diagnoses, patient conditions, treatment toxicities.
  • Formulate appropriate treatment plans with critical thinking skills and high-level judgement this includes prescribing appropriate medications.
  • Chart patient progress maintaining detailed and accurate health records
  • Protect patient confidentiality, maintain ethics and abide by North Carolina laws and Duke Health System policies.
  • Participate in clinical research projects.
  • Collaborating, supporting and building strong relationships with supervising and back-up physicians and APP colleagues
  • Participate in education of patients, family members, new staff, students and other learners.
  • Maintain up to date clinical and professional knowledge via approved CME.

Job Eligibility Requirements

Education
  • Nurse Practitioners: Work requires completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner program, with a Master's degree in Nursing.
  • Physician Assistants: Completion of an accredited Physician Assistant program. A Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree strongly preferred.
Certification
  • BLS required.
License
  • Nurse Practitioners: Must have current or compact RN licensure in the state of North Carolina. BLS required. National certification as a NP required prior to or within 6 months of employment.
  • Physician Assistants: Must be licensed in the state of NC, and be certified as a Physician Assistant by the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants.
Experience
  • 1+ years of oncology APP experience strongly preferred.
