Description Inspector II
Location: Dover, Delaware

This inspector position is primarily responsible for inspecting and verifying that all construction, maintenance, and repair activities involving Chesapeake's gas distribution system and related facilities conform to Chesapeake's internal policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements. This position will inspect and monitor work performance by Chesapeake internal crews as well as outside contractors. In addition, this position will be directly responsible for completing internal inspection reports, reviewing records and documentation, and making recommendations for corrective actions when necessary and appropriate in the course of business.

What you'll be working on...

  • Inspecting, reviewing, and verifying that all construction installation, maintenance, and repair activities involving Chesapeake's gas distribution system and related facilities meet Chesapeake's internal policies and standards as well as all appropriate federal, state, and local code requirements
  • This position must demonstrate the knowledge of and be familiar with the Operator Qualification requirements that are necessary in the field to complete the specific tasks being performed
  • This position primarily operates in an independent manner and must be able to objectively review each respective situation with a considerable amount of judgment and precision in the field
  • Will be responsible for ensuring that business relationships with outside contractors and third parties are professional, constructive, and beneficial to all parties. This position will need to represent the Company's Vision and Mission values in its interactions with all internal and external parties.
  • Will need to provide documentation on inspections performed, including corrective recommendations in procedures and policies where necessary. Written and oral communications will need to be clear and concise.
  • Ensures that both internal and external parties are qualified and certified to complete the field activities that are being performed.
  • Demonstrate the ability to mentor Company/Contractor Crews and assist with the training of those crews.
  • Supports, promotes and participates in the Company's Mission and values.

Who you are...

  • You have an associate's degree and 5-10 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
  • Operator Qualifications Master Evaluator
  • Working knowledge of and ability to interpret applicable codes, regulations and technical publications including PSC, PHMSA, DIMP and the Company OMC manual.
  • Knowledgeable in safe operation of tools and equipment, the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and OSHA regulations
  • Strong knowledge of the principles of natural and propane gasses
  • Ability to recognize symptoms and practical solutions to field problems
  • Ability to review craft skill certificates (like welder qualifications with OQ program) and witness any on site test to determine the proficiency of any laborers
  • Ability to appropriately enforce the Company's construction standards and policies when necessary
  • Must be proficient in the use of standard business unit software (Microsoft Word, Excel, Power Point and Windows).
  • Ability to work independently as well as in a diverse work group/environment.
