Location: Michael Foods, Inc. is located in Gaylord, Minnesota, known as Minnesota's Healthy Heartland. Situated in south-central Minnesota, Gaylord is about an hour west of the Twin Cities and conveniently close to Mankato, Hutchinson, and New Ulm. Our facility specializes in the production of liquid egg, hard-cooked egg, and precooked egg products such as scrambled eggs, patties, and omelets.

Key Responsibilities: We are seeking an enthusiastic Continuous Improvement Specialist to spearhead the implementation of TPM and Lean methodologies in our food manufacturing environment. You will design and execute continuous improvement programs that align with the Michael Foods Execution System. The ideal candidate will possess a robust background in manufacturing, a track record of success in applying continuous improvement strategies, and the leadership capabilities to drive transformative change.

  1. TPM/Lean Implementation
  • Boost Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE) through the deployment of MES methodology.
  • Establish and oversee TPM Centers of Excellence and ensure consistent implementation across pillars (Autonomous Maintenance, Planned Maintenance, Focused Improvement).
  • Implement Lean Manufacturing techniques targeted at waste reduction, efficiency enhancement, and productivity maximization.
  • Utilize Lean tools such as Value Stream Mapping, 5S, Kaizen, Six Sigma, FMEA, DMAIC, SMED, and RCO.
  1. Continuous Improvement
  • Facilitate cross-functional improvement initiatives to address challenges and implement lasting solutions.
  • Perform equipment utilization and capacity assessments, providing actionable recommendations.
  • Monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and nurture a results-focused culture.
  • Create and implement plant standards aimed at driving reliability and efficiency in processes.
  1. Team Leadership
  • Coach and mentor Operations Leadership in MES methodologies to enhance team capability.
  • Promote a culture of data-driven decision-making among site Operations Leadership.
  • Adhere to all human and food safety protocols, ensuring safe practices, good manufacturing practices (GMP), and product quality.
  • Share best practices to ensure consistency and continuous improvement across the organization.
  • Establish performance norms and standards to foster superior results.
  • Encourage a culture of learning, teamwork, and accountability within the team.
  • Assist sites in identifying opportunities for improvement through the development and use of loss trees.
  1. Collaboration and Communication
  • Leverage strong influence skills while collaborating cross-functionally with operations leadership to foster improvements.
  • Effectively communicate updates, challenges, and achievements to key leaders and stakeholders.
  • Cultivate strong relationships with stakeholders to ensure successful CI methodology implementation.
  1. Digital Leadership
  • Implement and promote best practices for using the Redzone connected workforce solution.
  • Train teams on data visualization and storytelling using tools such as Tableau and Power BI.
  • Create and manage dashboards to track progress, facilitate data-driven decision-making, and communicate outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Business Administration, or Operations is preferred.
  • Previous experience in a food processing environment and strong mechanical knowledge is essential.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with TPM and Lean methodology implementation.
  • Proven leadership and team-building abilities.
  • Strong problem-solving and dynamic thinking skills.
  • Ability to manage by influence and hold cross-functional teams accountable.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word and Excel, SAP, statistical analysis software, and Tableau.
  • Travel requirement: 25%.

Compensation: The pay range for this position is $75,564 - $111,834 per year.
