Los Angeles, United States Burner Full time
Ad Hoc Labs are the makers of Burner, one of the top-grossing independent apps in the world.  Our mission is to build best-in-class software products that empower our millions of customers with better control of their privacy, communications, and identity, and to do it as a self-sustaining company whose culture and practices we can be proud of.
Our bestselling app Burner has been the category leader in virtual phone number apps for more than five years, serving millions of consumers with a way to generate additional phone numbers when needed, keep them indefinitely or use them only temporarily, and delete them when finished – all without the hassle of wireless carriers or contracts. Burner was named a top 50 app by TIME and has been covered extensively in the press, including the New York Times who said “a thin layer of privacy between yourself and the rest of the world, when needed, is hard to put a price on”.
As a Senior QA Tester, you will be a key member of our team building the next generation of mobile privacy tools. You will be responsible for ensuring the reliability, functionality, and user-friendly nature of our mobile applications by devising, implementing, and managing testing processes. This role works closely with the development and product teams, ensuring the delivery of high-quality releases.
Qualifications
We're looking for someone with a minimum of 5+ years in a QA role, with at least 2 years in a senior position. You should have top notch communication skills and the ability to manage the release of mobile applications, including creating test plans. A strong grasp of mobile app performance, expectations, and good UI/UX is important. Understanding feature flag driven development will be helpful in managing testing and deployment. Most importantly, you'll be a strong customer advocate, and responsible for ensuring our teams continuously deliver a best in class product.

Key Responsibilities
Planning and Execution You'll work with the product and engineering team to understand new product features and functionalities. It will be your job to turn those requirements into applicable test plans and ensure a high level of quality in the final product. Your job is to be a strong customer advocate, and you'll be a trusted part of ensuring a high caliber experience. We want you to be a product owner, and not just someone who moves tickets across a board.
Test Management You will be primarily responsible for creating and maintaining the full testing lifecycle, including planning, execution, and documentation. You'll create and manage test plans, and determine which ones are necessary at different stages in the product development lifecycle. You'll determine what devices and operating systems are required to efficiently test different features.
Release Management Our mobile teams release new versions of our apps bi-weekly and you'll be responsible for ensuring the release trains run on time. You'll partner with the engineering teams to ensure each release is thoroughly tested and compliant with set standards. If issues are found, you'll be responsible for clearly communicating what's gone wrong and expectations for that release. You'll work with the team to report on the release rollout, and triage any new issues that arise from releases.
Bug and Issue Management You will be responsible for ensuring no blocking bugs are released to production and high priority bugs are considered for prioritization. You'll ensure issues are well documented, tracked, and resolved in a timely manner. You'll also be tasked with triaging critical issues that come from customer support, and working with the team to surface anything that needs to be immediately addressed. You'll need a strong understanding of what's blocking and what's a low priority.
Valuable skills for the job you should have a strong understanding of mobile technologies and platforms (iOS, Android), and proficiency with testing tools. Your verbal and written communication skills should be top notch. You have an important technical role on the team and will need to be technically proficient and be able to communicate technical concepts clearly. You'll need a rigorous attention to detail and a relentless pursuit of a best in class product experience for customers. Perks and Benefits
    • Health and Dental coverage for employees, dependents, and domestic partners
    • 401K with company 4% match
