Occupational Therapist for Behavioral Health

POSITION SUMMARY:
This position provides direct and indirect Occupational Therapy (OT) services to Adult and Adolescent Behavioral Health (BH) inpatients. Responsibilities include developing treatment plans, coordinating assessments, completing documentation, providing consultations, and making recommendations for patient's maximal functioning. This role also involves identifying supports necessary for community-based living and contributing to creating a caring and compassionate environment through ECHN's Core Values of Respect, Teamwork, and Communication.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Bachelor's Degree in Occupational Therapy (OT) from an Accredited College or University and State OTR license
- Training in PMT and de-escalation techniques and certification within 6 months of hire
- Experience in working with the chronic BH/psychiatric population preferred
COMPETENCIES:
- Strong clinical skills and team orientation
- Excellent written and verbal communication in English
- Computer competency with basic knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Outlook
- Flexibility, time management, and swift action capabilities when responding to patient emergency codes
ESSENTIAL DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Evaluates patient's level of functioning and treatment needs
- Develops treatment plans with specific, measurable, and time-specific goals
- Implements age-appropriate, patient-specific treatment
- Communicates and coordinates patient's plan of care
- Completes all required documentation in a timely manner
- Provides supervision on group topics and group skills to inpatient staff
- Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and participates in team meetings
- Responds to needs for individualized and comprehensive services
- Increases visibility of Occupational Therapy services
- Demonstrates effective time management skills and uses psychological and physical management techniques
- Participates in Early Response codes and Dr. Strong codes
