Software Engineer, Simulation

Description: We are Lockheed Martin You will be a Software Engineer for the F-22 Air Combat Simulation (ACS) Man in the Loop (MITL) development team. Our team is responsible for the development and integration of new or additional features into the simulation, as well as sustainment of the product and rehost of the Operational Flight Program (OFP) installed on the aircraft to run in a Linux environment. The ACS serves as the Digital Twin for the F22 aircraft and supports pilot training, tactics development, and DT/OT testing including DevSecOps support in the Raptor Virtual Development Lab (RVDL). What You Will Be Doing As the software engineer you will be a technical staff member responsible for laboratory software development within the LM Aero Simulation and System Labs (SSL) Team. This organization develops state of the art, real-time, pilot-in-the-loop fighter and airlift simulations and systems integration laboratories. Initial assignment will involve development, integration, documentation, test and debugging of airframe, aircraft system and avionics software models that contain logical and mathematical solutions for the F22 aircraft in computer languages for solutions by means of data processing. Your responsibilities will include: • Developing software on Linux and Windows platforms, in high order languages such as C++, Java or ADA, as well as scripting in languages such as Python or BASH . • Applying the appropriate standards, processes, procedures and tools throughout the development life cycle, locating and correcting programing errors, preparing operating instructions, compiling documentation of program development, and analyzing system capabilities. • Creating, integrating, and maintaining mathematical models of both basic aircraft systems as well as more complex avionics associated with state of the art 5th gen aircraft within non-linear and linear real time 3-DOF and 6-DOF simulations. Desired Skills: • Master of Science in an Engineering discipline or another technically related discipline from an accredited university. • Knowledge of aircraft flight controls and automatic flight controls. • Experience with modeling and simulation. Work Schedules: Lockheed Martin supports a variety of alternate work schedules that provide additional flexibility to our employees. Schedules range from standard 40 hours over a five day work week while others may be condensed. These condensed schedules provide employees with additional time away from the office and are in addition to our Paid Time off benefits.
