Job Description

We are actively seeking multiple Mechanical Engineers at various levels (I/II/III/Senior/Lead) to join our growing MEP team based in the Midwest region

You may be based anywhere in the U.S., as our design-based positions offer a flexible hybrid work environment. However, you must be available to travel and be on-site or in the office for variable amounts of time, depending on job requirements.

In this role, you will assist in planning, designing, and directing engineering projects within the business unit.

Additional Responsibilities

  • Prepare design computations and quantity estimates and develop probable construction cost estimates for the smaller, less complex projects within the business unit.
  • Use computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to prepare engineering and design documents.
  • Modify reports, specifications, plans, construction schedules, environmental impact studies, and designs for projects.
  • Make calculations using engineering formulas and skills for design, such as heating and cooling loads, lighting calculations, power distribution calculations, and equipment sizing.
  • Create specialized drawings, such as plumbing isometrics and risers or electrical riser diagrams.
  • Select equipment based on recommendations of the Project Designer/Engineer and fill out equipment schedules.
  • Provide drawings for own designs and produce sketches to incorporate in drawings by drafters.
  • Research design options and document findings for Project Designer/Engineer.
  • Keep the Project Manager informed of workload and any changes in project scope or additional services.
  • Provide information to the Project Manager for incorporation into specifications.
  • Research code issues and ask general questions of code officials.
  • Organize and maintain project files.
  • Ensure that drawings and designs are in accordance with company production and design standards.

Qualifications & Requirements
  • Engineering experience.
  • Bachelor of Engineering Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering from an accredited four-year college or university.
  • Registered professional engineer.
  • Expertise in computer operation for engineering design programs and computer-aided drafting.
  • General knowledge of system design and applicable codes in specific discipline-related areas (Mechanical, Structural, Plumbing, Electrical, or Process).

Travel based on the project location. This position is a safety-sensitive position. The employee is designated for field work and attends activities at client sites where they work in construction, process, packaging, manufacturing, research, or other "non-administrative" areas.
