The Quality Control Inspector - Civil and Structural will inspect, audit, record and report all construction activities related to construction to verify implementation of all quality plans and procedures required to build a quality project conforming to design, specifications, relevant standards, and codes.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform on and off-site daily inspections.
  • Witness field tests and fabrication shops to ensure conformity of material and works according to the contract specifications.
  • Perform inspections upon delivery of materials, equipment and products as delivered.
  • Produces reports on quality performance measured against indicators.
  • Ensure Quality Records are accurately completed in accordance with project plans and ITPs.
  • Review WMSs and develop/review ITPs.
  • Assist in developing and updating all inspection forms and checklists.
  • Review current design and shop drawings, requests for information (RFI) and red-line drawings prior to conducting any inspection. Use inspection checklists to record findings. Report any Non-Conformances, Opportunities for Improvement, issued, deficiencies, etc.
  • Ensure that contractors comply with the works' specifications.
  • Review test reports for compliance and completeness.
  • Review Daily Inspection Reports and associated checklists.
  • Liaise with Construction Team on quality requirements.
  • 7 day and night coverage so shift work may be required.
  • Other quality tasks as needed/directed.

Requirements

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Ability to perform work in an expeditious and highly accurate manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to maintain harmonious working relationships with other employees.
  • Ability to read and understand engineering plans and specifications.
  • Ability to read and understand contract exhibits
  • Must be analytical, organized, and have high level of attention to detail
  • Interpersonal Skills - Builds strong and open relationships with Superintendents, Foremen, and Project Team
  • Speaks clearly and persuasively in positive and negative situations; seeks to understand, listens, and obtains clarification prior to making decisions

Qualifications:

  • A two-year related degree: or equivalent of education and experience preferred.
  • Experience in the civil design, engineering, or construction industry; with experience in a project's quality system.
  • Previous Experience in a quality role is an asset.
  • Experience with issue management, and inspection of work put in place.
  • Current driver's license

WORK ENVIRONMENT
