39034BR Extended Job Title: Residence Life Coordinator - Camps & Conferences Position Description: Coordination and management of students, staff, and programs within a residence hall/complex. Supervises subordinate staff, student employees and volunteers. Requisition ID: 39034BR Travel Required: Up to 25% Major/Essential Functions: Summer Operations (40%) Assist in the coordination of summer camps/conferences and Red Raider Orientation Housing Assist with the coordination of the Off-Campus Housing Fair Provide training and support for summer conference staff and Senior Specialists Assist with facilitation of contract meetings and summer stakeholder meetings Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders regarding summer operations Maintain up-to-date information in applicable Summer Databases to ensure accuracy for planning, billing, etc. Train and advise Residence Life Staff on outreach and reporting for area initiatives Supervision/Advising (20%) Provide direct supervision to summer camps/conferences and summer para-professional staff Utilize systems of accountability for staff processes, procedures, and departmental expectations; follow corrective action processes when necessary Participate in the recruitment, selection training and development of professional and paraprofessional staff Complete formal and informal feedback for evaluations of staff as requested Provide indirect supervision, advising, and accountability to departmental staff, complex councils, and student organizations Administration and Residence Life Support (30%) Administer budget responsibilities for assigned functional area, including management of departmental pcards, budget tracking, budget paperwork, etc. Monitor, maintain, and/or approve payroll for assigned staff Serve on departmental committee(s) as assigned Utilize departmental databases and online systems for the management of University Student Housing and Residence Life operations including but not limited to Maxient, Roompact, EZ Track It, StarRez, etc. Serve as an internal stakeholder for departmental initiatives including, but not limited to In-Hall Operations, Leadership and Academic Development, and Student Support and Staff Operations Support, provide guidance for, and implement the departmental customer service and student development model On-Call/ Emergency Response (10%) During assigned on-call shifts, be accessible by the department provided cell phone 24-hours per day (includes university holidays and break periods) Be available on a call-to-duty status whenever residence halls are in operation and assist Residence Life staff with residence hall and campus emergencies Work with stakeholders, including the Texas Tech Police Department, Crisis Hotline, and Student Counseling Center, to respond to student concerns or incidents within the residence halls Ensure accurate reporting and provide follow-up as necessary with student and parent concerns Implement required emergency drills (fire drills, severe weather drills, etc.) and complete required paperwork or follow-up Comply with institutional, Lubbock, Texas and federal mandates regarding emergency and crisis response Grant Funded?: No Pay Basis: Monthly Schedule Details: Day + Some Evening + Some Weekend + On-Call Work Location: Lubbock Preferred Qualifications: Experience working in Residence Life as a student or graduate staff member, previous supervision experience Department: University Student Housing Required Attachments: Cover Letter, Professional/Personal References, Resume / CV Job Type: Full Time Job Group: Academic Support Professionals Shift: Other Required Qualifications: Master's degree required in a related field plus two years related residence hall staff experience; OR a Bachelor's degree and 3 years of experience. The Residence Life Coordinator is responsible for providing high-level Customer Service and Project Implementation functions for their assigned areas. The Residence Life Coordinator is supervised by the Program Manager – Off Campus Housing & Summer Operations within the Residence Life area. Special Instructions to Applicants: The Residence Life Coordinator position is a 12-month appointment with a base salary of $40,000 for Bachelor’s level professionals and $45,000 for Master’s level professionals. Additional compensation is commensurate upon the education and experience of the individual selected. Opportunities for merit-based increase may be available during employment based on institutional funding. The state of Texas has no state income tax. Staff members accumulate both annual leave and sick leave in addition to University Holidays. The Residence Life Coordinator is considered professional University personnel and is expected to work during student vacation periods unless personal accrued leave is approved, or an official university holiday has been designated. Additional benefits include participation in the Teacher’s Retirement System of Texas, medical and dental insurance programs, optional insurance coverage (term life & dependent term life, accidental death & dismemberment, short-term and long-term disability, etc.) and participation in the state agency longevity program. Health coverage starts the first day of the month after your 60th day of employment. An Employee Tuition Assistance Program is available to Residence Life Coordinators upon approval from their supervisor. Enrollment in a degree program must be earned to utilize this program. Professional Development Funds are provided when university and departmental budgets allow. A fully furnished one to two-bedroom apartment within the assigned residence hall complex is provided at no expense including utilities, small kitchen unit, and internet access. A meal plan is provided to Residence Life Coordinators while the dining halls are in service, reserved parking is available upon the individual purchase of a campus parking permit. University Student Housing has a Professional Staff Occupant Policy which allows one additional occupant to reside in the provided apartment pending a background check and approval process (the exception being dependent children). University Student Housing has a Professional Staff Pet Policy which would allow one pet of the following nature: one indoor cat or one indoor dog (no more than 75lbs) or one fish tank (up to 25 gallons). An application process and pet deposit are required prior to obtaining the pet.
