Senior Technical Claim Specialist

Responsibilities:

The Senior Technical Claim Specialist will be tasked with overseeing the entire process of handling, negotiating, and resolving third-party commercial general liability and automobile bodily injury and property damages claims. This position requires a thorough understanding of coverage verification, policy interpretation, contract interpretation, liability investigation, and evaluation, ensuring compliance with company policies and state regulations.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Conducting and managing the investigative process with consistent communication with customers and external parties.
  • Documenting files comprehensively, recording all key activities, contacts, statements, and claim requirements for resolution.
  • Demonstrating proficiency in understanding medical terms, treatments, and injury descriptions.
  • Collaborating with external defense counsel to manage the litigation process effectively.
  • Recognizing and evaluating potential exposures under the policy to establish timely and adequate reserves.
  • Managing the claim authorization process and negotiating claims with significant complexity.
  • May be required to give depositions or testify in claims negotiations or trials.
Qualifications:
  • 12+ years of multi-line experience, including high-severity bodily injury claims.
  • Current Texas claims adjuster license; additional licenses are a plus.
  • Litigation experience is a requirement.
  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Multi-jurisdictional experience preferred.
  • Familiarity with Contractual Risk Transfer concepts and anti-indemnity laws.
  • Strong negotiation and settlement skills.
  • Ability to follow detailed procedures, ensuring accuracy in documentation and data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with an emphasis on active listening.
  • Upholding a high standard of customer service.
  • Ability to use a win-win approach to resolve controversies.
  • Recognizing and addressing differences in opinions and misunderstandings, encouraging open discussion for resolution.
  • Taking individual responsibility for all actions and holding oneself and others accountable to the organization and stakeholders.
  • Strong computer proficiency.
