Smyth Industries Electrical Division is currently searching for an individual with Water Infrastructure Industry experience as an Electrical Superintendent to help enhance our current team. We provide full-service electrical, civil, manufacturing, engineering and general contracting services for the water and reclamation industry. In your job, you will have the ability to make a difference in the water and reclamation industry by: Essential Duties and Responsibilities : Exhibit the ability to project materials needed to complete assigned task. Provide effective project communication, both orally and in writing. Complete nonroutine task as Manage installations by reading blueprints and learning where circuits, panel boards, and outlets need to be placed during construction projects, responsible for installing these electrical components and implementing the wiring that is necessary Proficient with acquiring project materials needed to complete assigned task. Experienced with both electronic and written project documentation. Maintain tools, vehicles, and equipment and keep parts and supplies in order. Perform semi-skilled and skilled laboring duties related to installation, maintenance, and repair of a wide variety of electrical systems and equipment. Reassemble equipment, using hand tools. Ability to select tools to complete daily job tasks. Proficient in the use of powered conduit benders, forklift, trencher, basic hand tools to perform daily job functions: screwdrivers, pliers, wrenches, cordless drills, hand operated saw, level etc. Proficient in the installation of conduit (pipe or tubing), PVC, IMC, or rigid steel conduit underground or aboveground. Proficient with wire terminations Proficient with the use of test equipment such as ohmmeters, voltmeters, toners, and ammeters to check the circuits for proper connections, ensuring electrical compatibility and safety components. Install coaxial, fiber optics and ethernet. Ability to lead a team, complete project assigned tasks, while working under minimal supervision Document actions, testing results, observations, final diagnosis of the situation and steps taken to resolve issues for each job or situation. Maintain, troubleshoot/repair electrical systems by replacing or installing components, wiring or devices. Maintain equipment to ensure it is in good condition and can operate safety; report any issues immediate Foreman/Supervisor. Marketing Make “cold calls” as required in representatives’ specific area or as designated by the Director of Electrical and/or others in the organization responsible for sales. Learn to estimate jobs. May lead/participate in presentations to new clients. Establish and maintain effective contact with clients. Development and implementation of the Strategic Marketing Plan, department sales objectives, and individual sales plans. Notify management of sales activities and approximate timing for company proposal and bid submittals. Determine client needs and evaluate company resources and capabilities considering those needs. Create scope of work, budgetary numbers, budget hours for a given project proposal. Represent company, project and/or department during client and project management meetings. Interface with all on-site work groups as required to resolve problems, ensure quality of construction, etc. in support of overall project schedule. Demonstrated ability to build healthy customer/subcontractor/vendor relationships. Depth of knowledge in all related trades to adequately qualify subcontractor bids. Strong organizational skills and the ability to work in (and improve) the existing estimating workflow. Ability to stay organized and focused to meet deadlines. Budgeting Coordinate and control budget process. Making comparisons between actual and budgeted results. Control labor cost by creating predictable work schedules, reduce pay overages, reduce labor cost by optimizing schedules. Control material cost by managing expected materials required and purchase price of materials, require tools for the project, consumables, etc. Spend Authority keeping within the guidelines outlined by policies. Partner with Director of Field Services to ensure projects are within budget. People Mentor and train field staff to develop ways to more efficiently complete assign task while building a strong team environment. Develop a team relationship with other divisions sharing resources to successfully complete projects on time and under budget. Establish and maintain working relationships with owners, agencies, subcontractors, inspectors, etc., providing customer service to develop long-term partnerships with client base and stakeholders. Develop a team relationship with other divisions. Ability to lead a team, complete project assigned tasks, while working under minimal supervision Ability to thrive in a team environment and work with other division. Minimum Qualifications : 7 years of experience as an electrician working in an industrial/commercial environment required. 5 years of experience bending and installing above, and underground conduit required. 5 years of experience installing utility service entrance sections, drops, junction boxes, point of deliveries and/or primary-secondary. 5 years of experience installing and wired industrial electrical panels, electrical motors, high voltage and low voltage AC and DC Branch circuits, variable frequency drive (VFD), soft starter, pressure devices and related instruments. 3 years leading 1-2 teams. Strong mechanical, analytical, and solution driven Demonstrate the ability to reference information from the NEC, state, and local building regulations. Prior construction experience. Self-motivated, task-oriented, leader Required to possess a valid driver's license and legally be able to operate a company vehicle. Required to pass a preemployment drug screening. Must be able to physically perform all required duties which may include bending, lifting 50-pound objects, carrying 50-pound items, squatting, climbing ladders, working in confined spaces, working outdoors most of the time, or standing for prolonged periods of time. Required to wear company supplied Personal Protective Equipment. Applicant should be comfortable work around industrial equipment. Knowledgeable reading and connecting field wiring using ladder drawings. Preferred: 3 years leading 2 projects concurrently. Strong knowledge in water and reclamation construction Position is highly visible to potential customers and requires the ability to influence/persuade. Understand the sales process and be able to close sales. Experience using Procore Construction Manager software. Speak Spanish Manage multiple teams.
