Job Description:

Job Summary: The Paramedic I-IV performs various technical duties and assists in the direct and indirect treatment of patients within the department.

Essential Job Functions & Accountabilities:

  1. Responds to medical emergencies and provides emergency first aid treatment to patients.
  2. Assists licensed personnel with the immediate recognition, evaluation, treatment and disposition of patients in response to any medical, traumatic, psychiatric or surgical emergency.
  3. Performs technical functions to include administering EKGs, IVs, and bedside testing.
  4. Performs basic patient care with consideration for age and developmental stage.
  5. Transports patients by wheelchair or stretcher.
  6. Notifies nurse of abnormal findings or changes in patient status.
  7. Performs clerical functions.
  8. Accesses and navigates through Epic.
  9. Assists in monitoring of adequate availability and stocking of supplies and equipment according to established par levels.

Qualifications: Required Qualifications: High School Diploma or GED. State Registration as an Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic (EMT-P). Current JPS recognized BLS certification and must be maintained throughout employment. 4785 Paramedic I: 0 -1.99 years of relevant experience. 4786 Paramedic II: 2-4.99 years of relevant experience. 4787 Paramedic III: 5-9.99 years of relevant experience. 4788 Paramedic IV: 10+ years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications: Current JPS recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification and Level 1 EKG Competency (subsequent to hire). Must be maintained throughout employment.
