Job Summary
We are seeking an experienced and visionary Artistic Director/Conductor to lead the musical direction and programming of Sunshine Symphony Orchestra. The Artistic Director will be responsible for shaping the artistic vision, selecting repertoire, conducting rehearsals and performances, and engaging with the community to promote the orchestra's mission.
Key Responsibilities
- Musical Direction: Develop and articulate the artistic vision for the orchestra.
- Programming: Select and plan the repertoire for each concert season, balancing classical masterpieces with contemporary works and new compositions.
- Conducting: Lead rehearsals and performances, ensuring high artistic standards and effective collaboration among musicians.
- Musician Recruitment: Assist in the audition process and selection of musicians, fostering a cohesive and talented ensemble.
- Community Engagement: Act as a public face of the orchestra, engaging with audiences, donors, and community members to promote the orchestra's mission and programs.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the Board of Directors, Executive Director, and administrative staff to align artistic goals with organizational objectives.
- Education and Outreach: Develop and participate in educational and outreach programs to inspire and educate diverse audiences.
- Experience: Proven experience as an Artistic Director or Conductor with a professional or community orchestra.
- Education: Advanced degree in music, conducting, or a related field preferred.
- Leadership: Strong leadership and interpersonal skills with the ability to inspire and motivate musicians and staff.
- Artistic Vision: A clear and compelling artistic vision that aligns with the mission and goals of Sunshine Symphony Orchestra.
- Communication: Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to engage and connect with diverse audiences.
- Community Focus: Commitment to community engagement and education, with experience in developing and implementing outreach programs.
