A. Job Description ObjectiveThe LabVantage Enterprise platform is designed to scale from small single-site deployments all the way up to aglobal enterprise. Complex organizations tackling a large volume of data and a wide variety of work, often acrossmultiple labs in multiple geographies and languages, can rely on the LabVantage Enterprise solution hosted from a single data center.LabVantage System Implementation: Solution Architects (SA) need to provide robust design solutions to customer requirements by utilizing combination of strong product knowledge and technical skills. The SA needsto demonstrate clear understanding of the professional services operating model and needs to follow project implementation methodologies to deliver high quality solutions to customer.The SA is expected to:- Participate in design workshops to assist the BA to define or groom customer requirements- Translate clientrequirements into best practice design solutions that consist of the right mix of customization and/or configuration. Where solutions can be done through both configuration or customization, the SA should engage in active discussions with the client to outline the pros and cons of each option so that the client can decide on the option that best fits their needs, schedule, and budget.- Document the agreed design solution and hand to the LabVantage delivery team for execution- provide help and guidance as and when required to support team to address issues / concerns raised by customers. - share creative inputs to make project implementations process within PSO more efficient and effective. - work closely with onshore Business Analyst, Project Managers, and offshore teams to deliver projects with high degree of quality.- be involved in advanced configuration, design, development, testing and deployment of LabVantage system configurations. - Oversee the applications developed by the professional services engineering team, by utilizing key skills such as Java based programming, web development, database and LabVantage product knowledge.- Provide support and feedback to team members on best practices for efficient code design and delivery. - is responsible for leading the LabVantage system implementation by utilizing experience in computer science and technologies. - As part of leading the LabVantage system implementation they need to analyze the functional requirements collected by the Business Analyst, design and lead a team of application programmer to develop the solution. - The SA should also design and monitor the testing process and lead the team to solve any issues that may come from the quality analysts who will be testing the functionality before delivered to the customer. - Report any observed quality issues and improvement ideas to leadership, including the PSO quality manager. - Guide PSO on engineering best practices, tools, services, etc. The Solution Architect need technical expertise in the following areas -➢ Advanced Java, JSP, Java Script, JQuery, AJAX, Groovy➢ Advanced SQL (Oracle and Microsoft SQL Server)➢ Amazon Web Services (EC2 Instances, Dev Ops related knowledge)➢ Webservice Interfacing➢ Knowledge of CI/CD technologies➢ Concepts of Docker and Containers ➢ Different third-party tools like -o Jasper Reports o Bartendero Talend tool (Master Data Management tool)o Confluence and JIRAand strong expertise on some of the LIMS (Laboratory Information Management System) domain Functional areas and basic knowledge on overall LIMS functional flows, like -➢ Sample Management➢ Life Sciences➢ Pharma➢ Quality Management➢ Stability➢ Electronic Notebook (ELN) and Laboratory Execution System (LES)➢ Instrument Interfacing➢ System InterfacingNote: (This is just an example list, and this will grow with new releases of the product)Customer Focus:Solution Architect will be involved in building strong working relationship with both internal and external customers. They need to communicate fluently and efficiently with customers. Ability to gain confidence and gain trust of customers. Solution Architect will need to influence customers and set their expectations in the best interest of the organization. They will need to clearly understand customers business and operational needs and build scalable and robust solution. The Solution Architects may also represent the organization at LabVantage CTEC (Customer Training and Education Conference).Code Review and Deliver the Builds: As part of the LabVantage system implementation, the codes developed by the implementation engineers (such as: Associate Solution Engineer, Engineer, Associate Architect) will be reviewed by the Solution Architect. The primaryobjective of this code review is to maintain the best practices and to make sure good quality LIMS product has been configured as per the business process and will be delivered to the customer. To perform the code review, they can use industry standard tools like Sonar lint/Sonar Cube. It is also Solution Architect’s responsibility to keep on updating the internal process and standards for this type of code review and other related processes to maintain the quality of the deliverables. Also, Solution Architects are responsible for creating the framework of the delivery model, which will be used by the technical team members to deliver the project build to the customers after completing the development and internal QA process.Overseeing the Application Support during Project Implementation and Go-live: Solution Architect’s involvement is critical in terms of ensuring the proper support model, technical resources and framework is in place for project go live and post go live support to customer as necessary and guided by project plan.Solution Architect will be also responsible for providing guidance to use the necessary automation tools for different types of testing (regression, performance etc.) which will be executed by the project testing team. This will ensure smooth transition from testing system to the actual production system.As part of the system implementation, Solution Architect needs to have good knowledge on the overall system Solution Architecture of the application servers like JBOSS, WebSphere, WebLogic. They might need to oversee the server management and system deployment work done by other technical resources of the team. Also, they need to have advanced level of Windows, Linux operating system so that they can provide necessary guidance in a very efficient way to the team members on any server related issues during the troubleshooting process.Training and coaching: The Solution Architect will also provide a mentoring role to all other junior engineering team members. Responsible for reviewing application design, reusability of components and develop best practices in project implementation. This will include overseeing the technical training of PSO Applications Programmers as well as ensuring that they adhere to company coding standards and good programming practices. Additionally, this position will coordinate the activities of PSO Applications Programming Team with the onshore Business Analyst and Project Managers to deliver projects with high degree of quality.Cross function Collaboration:Solution Architects need to provide input to Product development team directed towards further improvement of product in terms of new functionalities based on customer requirements encountered in projects. They also provide inputs to the product enhancements based on project experience. The Solution Architect participates in the experienced candidate recruitment process to hire people in the organization. Internally the Solution Architect’s also provides technical assistance to AMD Support and the development function in case of high critical customer issues.Contribute to driving Innovation of the PSO Organization:Evaluate and propose certain in-house technical advancement the PSO organization needs on a regular basis.Contribute to those projects by implementing the process, creating the best practices, and providing training to the entire PSO Organization. (Add implement a new code review process as an example)Contribution to the reusable components: The Solution Architect Provides ideas and POC/POV to the ACB (Architecture Control Board) team for reusable andpluggable component that can be used across multiple projects in LabVantage framework.Solution Architect responsibilities include the following: ➢ Provide solution prototyping and take part in Sales and Pre-Sales activities.➢ Need to build strong product knowledge and should be able to provide robust design solutions to customer requirements.➢ Need to able to come up with very accurate effort estimates and gauging customer requirements in advance.➢ Provided input to product development team directed towards further improvement of product in terms of new functionalities based on customer requirements encountered in projects.➢ Review codes written by the team members and making sure it adhered the JAVA coding standards, the codes are neat, well structured, easy to follow and maintain.➢ Direct support and ownership of LABVANTAGE Configuration Services.➢ Identifying design alternatives when presented within the unexpected.➢ Developing server-side components in Java using J2EE framework for web portal.➢ Involved in various web-based development projects by creating documentation to existing site and designing/programming future releases.➢ Collaborating with project lead to clarify definition of client requirements.➢ Defining the problem domain in terms of business processes, business rules, and requirement for functionality, technology, and delivery to requirements specifications.➢ It is expected that the Solution Architect will also include in laying out a framework for different types of testing procedures based on the test cases written by the testing team on different features developed for the project.➢ Provide design consultation to LabVantage Business Analysts, facilitate all communication between BA/PM and project team, interface with customers to deliver project from project development team, help define timelines and build quality solutions.➢ After a project kick-off, assist BA in design aspects of FRS preparation.➢ As part of project planning assist BA and PM by clarifying FRS solutions.➢ Conduct white board sessions as needed with BA and Technical Project Leads/Developers.➢ Communicate to PM the outcome/estimate of FRS review and assist in preparation of a functional level project plan as required by the customer.➢ Review and resolve any outstanding high-level design issues with Technical Project Leads/Developers.➢ Review pre-delivery checklists to ensure deliverables are achieved.➢ Oversee the entire development work of the project and manage the delivery process which will be done by the technical team leads of the project. Respond to the customer inquiries.➢ Coordinate with BA to log issues in Issue Tracking System.➢ Ensure well-documented solutions implemented which can be handed-off to the LV Support team.➢ Liaison with R&D organization to resolve product related issues and feature enhancements.➢ Availability on call during weekend, holidays, and late evening hours in case of high critical customer issues.➢ Liaison between customer, support, PSO, and development to streamline maintenance, issue resolution and implementation process.➢ Illustrate drive for ease of use and simplicity despite complexity of web and desktop applications.➢ As needed, willingness to learn new technology and business concepts quickly.➢ Can define and implement interaction and visual design criteria, design guidelines, and design specs.➢ Perform code reviews prior to implementing changes in production,➢ Database design coupled with software documentation, implementation, and installation.➢ Ability to configure JBOSS application server. Knowledge of WebLogic and WebSphere application server is a plus.➢ Experience working on Linux OS.➢ Define problem domains in terms of business processes, business rules, and requirement for functionality, technology, and delivery to requirement specifications.➢ Post-delivery technical support to the customer which includes but not limited to technical point of contact between LV and Customer. ➢ Coordinating issue resolutionB. Job Qualifications Necessary➢ The Solution Architect must have at least a bachelor’s degree in computer science / Engineering with 10 years of progressive experience or master’s in computer science/Application and 7 years of progressive technical experience in creating Java-driven Web Applications.➢ Must be adept in at least: Java (J2EE), JavaScript, JSP, HTML, DHTML/Web Page Development including client-side scripting and SQL for relational databases (either Oracle and/or SQL Server)➢ Other desirable technical skills include Web Service, Ajax, Groovy, J-Query, ES-5 JS Standards, Reporting tools, ETL tools.➢ System Analysis, in addition to domain knowledge of laboratory practices.➢ Good problem-solving skills➢ Ability to identify ways to continuously improve processes which will help in delivering superior solutions on time and in budget.➢ Good communication skills. Must be able to intelligently present and defend ideas to peers.➢ Workable knowledge of Jasper reporting is desirable.➢ Excellent skills in leadership, time management, communications, decision-making, presentation, human relations, and organizational skills.➢ Technical and comprehensive knowledge of broad business area.➢ Approximately 25% of travel
