The Sr. Associate Counsel will provide legal advice and risk management counseling on a variety of legal matters relating to day-to-day operations of Bethany Christian Services.

This position is expected to function effectively with moderate supervision while following the guidelines given on procedures, along with agency, federal, and state regulatory requirements.

ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Provide legal advice and risk management counseling to Bethany in contractual and transactional matters such as state and federal grants, vendor agreements, and real estate/property issues;
  • Provide legal advice and risk management counseling to Bethany on regulatory and compliance matters to support day-to-day operations including safety, labor and employment, insurance, and intellectual property;
  • Provide education and training to mitigate and prevent unnecessary risks to the organization in coordinator with General Counsel and other departments;
  • Assist General Counsel with internal and external investigations and litigation, as needed;
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Juris-Doctorate degree required;
  • Must have a law license in GA or other southern state such as NC, TN, TX;
  • Five to seven (5 - 7) years of legal experience in a non-profit environment, especially a faith-based organization;
  • Experience with government contracts (state or federal);
  • Excellent relationship skills with the ability to engage with every department in every state;
  • Good oral and written communication skills;
  • Ability to work independently with great autonomy, accuracy, and speed;
  • Computer skillssufficient to perform essential functions including knowledge of MicrosoftOffice suite;
  • Must be 21 years old with a valid driver'slicense with at least 3 years driving experience in the U.S. to operate avehicle on behalf of Bethany. Must also pass a Motor Vehicle Records (MVR)check and maintain a reliable vehicle with proof of adequate insurancecoverage;
  • Pass a criminal history screen, including state and local child protection agency registries;
  • Subscription to andintegration of the agency Statement of Faith and Mission Statement.
