ABOUT THE POSITION
Structural Bridge Engineer - Richmond, Williamsburg, Virginia Beach
VHB's I-64 Transportation Team has an opening for a Structural Bridge Engineer to join our established and growing team. You will be working on a wide variety of bridge projects in Virginia and throughout the East Coast using cutting edge tools to design and create digital models of bridges. Responsibilities
- Perform structural modeling and design of highway, pedestrian and railroad bridges and other structures
- Create plans and digital models of the bridges and highway bridge approaches
- Perform bridge inspections
- Develop construction cost estimates
- Prepare contract documents
- Review fabrication drawings and provide construction plan reviews
Skills and Attributes
- Strong technical skills in bridge/structural design
- Experience developing design reports, plans, specifications, and construction cost estimates
- Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
- Self-motivated and commitment to learning
- Excellent attention to detail
- Training and mentoring skills
- Effective and comfortable in a highly collaborative team environment
- AutoCAD Civil 3D, Bentley OpenBridge, MicroStation v8 and Connect experience is a strong plus
Qualifications
- BS in Civil Engineering (structural emphasis preferred)
- 5-8 years of professional structural/transportation/bridge design experience required (master's degree may substitute for 1 year of experience)
- EIT required, PE license expected or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Familiarity with structural modeling/engineering software is a plus
