Develops an organized and systematic PI program to evaluate and optimize Perioperative and Procedural departments quality of patient care. Develops and maintains an effective system for the documentation and dissemination of QM/PI activities to appropriate persons, groups or committees.

  1. Aggregates information/data related Perioperative Services and Procedural areas so that patterns are ascertainable. Findings/actions are compiled monthly as evidenced by QM/PI reports distributed at appropriate Committee meeting.
  2. Performs medical record monitoring/data collection for Perioperative services and Procedural areas. Maintains database in Microsoft excel and/or Active Strategy.
  3. Participates with interdisciplinary team members to evaluate care/service based upon established standards of care practice. Manages the Peer Review process in conjunction with Peer Review Committee Chair and the CMO ensuring all timelines are met.
  4. Collaborates in annual review of the Department of Surgery, Anesthesia, Perioperative Services, and Procedural arearsquo;s QM/PI program with the Department Chair, Senior Director Quality, CMO, and VP Quality. Participates in the development/revision of indicators as issues are resolved or ongoing and potential issues are identified. Annual plan is prepared, circulated, and implemented by July 1 each Fiscal Year.
  5. Participate in 90% Perioperative Steering Committee to assist in problem identification/resolution, as evidenced by attendance sheets
  6. Participates in 80% of Procedural Sedation Committee, OR Committee, Infection Prevention amp; Control Committee, Patient Safety Committee, and IPRC, to provide results of QM/PI activities, as evidenced by attendance sheets.
  7. Maintains effective written and verbal communication with the Senior Director Performance Excellence and the Medical Director of Periop services
  8. Performs and completes other duties as assigned by Senior Director Quality amp; Performance Excellence within the required time frame.

Education: Graduate of an accredited nursing program.

Experience: Two (2) years Perioperative and/or critical care, computer skills, QM/PI knowledge, ability to apply clinical background to monitoring activities.

Licensure/Certification/Registration Requirements: Registered Nurse (RN), current PA licensure, BSN preferred.
