Sr. EMS Network Analyst I (II) - REQ-2024-3917 DESCRIPTION/RESPONSIBILITIES: Flexible Work Arrangement: Hybrid The (Sr.) EMS Network Analyst is responsible for ensuring a consistent and effective operation of PJM's electronic network, both internal and external (known as Wide Area Network and Local Area Network). This includes the technical knowledge and competencies to design, maintain, and operation PJM networks. The (Sr.) EMS Network Analyst is responsible for ensuring a consistent and effective operation of PJM's real-time ICCP communications between PJM and other approved entities sending / receiving ICCP data. A Flexible remote work option is available to this role. However, there is a requirement for onsite support as needed to effectively maintain the systems. We require residence within commutable distance to PJM's two locations in Audubon & Milford, PA. Essential Functions: * Design, distribute, install, test, maintain, and operate robust, expansible, local and wide area networking infrastructure. * Identify, analyze, and manage problems occurring on components of network infrastructure. * Design, distribute, install, test, maintain, and operate routers between critical systems and the PJM internal networks. Perform system administration functions on all EMS related PJM router platforms. Recommend placement and configuration of routers. * Design, distribute, install, test, maintain, and operate LAN hub and switching equipment between critical systems and the PJM internal networks. Perform system administration functions on all EMS related PJM switching or hub platforms. Recommend placement and configuration of LAN hub and switching equipment. * Design, distribute, install, test, maintain, and operate firewalls between EMS systems and PJM internal networks or other approved entities that exchange real-time data with. Perform system administration functions (including custom operating system installation) on all EMS PJM firewall platforms. Recommend placement and configuration of firewalls. * Maintain and operate ICCP communications application configurations (MMS stack, UCS communications configurations, etc.) * Monitor Real-time communications. Work with member companies and other ISO/RTO operators to schedule / manage planned upgrades. Respond to restore service during unplanned outages as quickly as possible. * Schedule / Perform regular failovers to Real-time communications WAN infrastructure, ICCP, RTU/DNP3 and Phasor server infrastructure, and Primary/Backup Sites. * Manage vendor contracts / service level agreements with regards to PJMnet and associated monitoring, maintenance, and telecommunications functions. * Design, distribute, install, test, maintain, and operate Network Management Tools used on critical systems and the PJM internal networks. * Implement and administer network security to determine compliance with PJM security practices. Evaluate IT network assets and identify how to protect them. * Assist in research and design of solutions. * Design, distribute and install solutions. * Activate and verify implementation of new solution through testing and gaining of customer acceptance of solution. * Maintain and communicate change information for all network platforms. * Administer PJM's IP address space and Domain Name Registration. * Build and develop strong relationships with ITS's business area clients by providing superior customer support as demonstrated by clearly owning, resolving and communicating issues and problems; being responsive to needs, requirements, and deadlines; and generally promoting goodwill in a professional and trust-building manner. * Candidate must be within commuting distance of the Audubon, PA/Milford, PA and willing to be onsite as needed to complete assigned tasks. * Operate systems in order to achieve publish service level metrics. * Experience Maintaining, Administering, and Creating ICCP Links on an OSI Monarch base system. Characteristics and Qualifications: Required: * BS degree in Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent work experience * 0-5 years of work experience * Perform security-focused network system engineering and system engineering providing overall support for various business-critical networks. * Some tasks involve the entire design and operations life-cycle, including project management, cost, risk, supportability, requirements analysis, functional analysis, timeline analysis, device/system testing, validation, implementation, technical management, and quality assurance. * 0-5 years of experience Firewall Management, Network Support, and Systems Administration * 0-5 years of experience EMS and/or SCADA communications systems and protocols. This includes a solid understanding of how to create, monitor, and maintain ICCP associations * Ability to produce high-quality work products with attention to detail * Ability to communicate effectively in a team environment * Experience in quantitative and qualitative analysis * Experience using verbal and written communications skills * Ability to use Microsoft Office Suite (MS-Word, MS-Excel and MS-PowerPoint) Preferred: * BS degree Computer Engineering * At least 4 years of experience Experience with SASE/SDWAN / WAN Acceleration/Optimization Solutions * 0-5 years of experience Experience Maintaining, Administering, and Creating ICCP Links on an OSI Monarch based system. * At least 4 years of experience Experience with enterprise network management tools such as SolarWinds, Cisco Smartnet, Splunk, or similar technologies with WAN/SDWAN/SDN system analysis and design documents. * Experience with PJM operations, markets, and planning functions * Experience supporting any of PJM Committees * Accredited Purchasing Practitioner (APP) Equal Opportunity Employer-minorities/females/veterans/individuals with disabilities/sexual orientation/gender identity
