ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Must be a graduate of an approved medical school.  Must meet one of the following requirements: Graduate of college of osteopathic medicine accredited by the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). Graduate of a medical school in the United States or Canada accredited by the Liaison Committee on Medical Education (LCME). Graduate of a medical school outside of the United States and Canada, with a currently valid certificate from the Educational Commission on Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG).
Must have successfully completed Step I and Step II of the USMLE or Part I and Part II of the COMLEX.

ORGANIZATION

Family Practice Residents will be involved in the provision of hospital care as well as care of the patients at the Family Practice Clinic.  Even through the Resident may provide the majority of direct patient care, the attending physician is ultimately responsible for patient care and remains the physician of record for the patient.

SPECIFIC DUTIES

1. Supports the mission statement of Munson Medical Center: Munson Medical Center is the core of a regional health system. In partnership with physicians, we provide quality, compassionate, comprehensive, and cost-effective services for improvement of the health of our patients and the communities we serve.
2. Embraces and supports the CQI philosophy of Munson Medical Center: We are committed to the name "Munson" meaning excellence. We will provide services that meet our customer's requirements every time.
3. Adheres to ESP House rules at all times.
4. Acknowledges that safety is self-responsibility.  Knows physical requirements of the job and works within those guidelines. Performs job duties safely at all times, utilizing learned body mechanics and transferring/lifting techniques.  Plans actions to promote safety. Reports any unsafe situation/equipment according to hospital procedure.
5. Supports the mission of the Munson Family Practice Residency.
6. Provides patient care under faculty supervision in ambulatory, inpatient, and off-site locations.  Participates in evening, night, and weekend on-call duties as required by the program, and as detailed in the Residency Manual.
7. Residents will be required to travel between the hospital and ambulatory training sites.  During periods of on-call duty, residents will at times be required to provide services continuously for up to 30 hours.
8. Under faculty supervision residents will obtain, dictate and report on patient history and physical examinations, create a working diagnosis, differential diagnosis, and develop patient treatment plans.  Residents will write or dictate progress notes on all patients under their care and will prepare clinical resumes of hospitalized patients under the direction of faculty physicians.
9. Each resident will keep a detailed log of activities as required by the Residency Manual and Residency policies.
10. Residents are expected to arrive, on time, prepared for all residency didactic activities as detailed in the Residency Manual.
11. Demonstrate continuous personal and professional growth while participating in the training program.
12. Participate in the education of medical students as requested.
13. Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
