Job Summary and Qualifications

As a Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT), you will administer respiratory care to patients by the attending physician. You will conduct diagnostic procedures to evaluate the need for, and response to, therapy.

* You will initiate, monitor, and maintain mechanically ventilated patients

* You will administer and monitor respiratory care treatments

* You will record pertinent information in patient's medical record

* You will perform noninvasive and invasive diagnostic tests and monitoring

* You will perform cleaning, preventative maintenance and calibration of respiratory care equipment as required

* You will function as respiratory care protocol assessor

Job Qualifications

Experience

* 1-3 years of experience

* Acute care hospital experience - preferred

Education

* High School graduate or equivalent

* Graduate of approved respiratory certification program or sufficient college credits to qualify for certification exam - preferred

Licenses and Certifications

* Certified Respiratory Therapist (CRT) credential by the National Board of Respiratory Care (NBRC)

* Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license by the State of Texas

* Registered Respiratory Therapist exam must be taken and passed within 6 months of hire

* Basic Life Support (BLS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy

* Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy

* Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification as per St. David's HealthCare policy

St. David's Medical Center is a full-service hospital located in central Austin, Texas. This 300+ bed facility features a 24-hour emergency department, the region's largest Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU), and the internationally-renowned Texas Cardiac Arrhythmia Institute and St. David's Neuroscience & Spine Institute . The full scope of services provided at St. David's Medical Center includes cancer care, heart and vascular care, imaging services, joint replacement and orthopedics, women's services, complex surgical services, and a Bariatric Surgery Center . The facility is home to a 60+ bed rehabilitation hospital providing both inpatient and outpatient comprehensive care.
