Construction Superintendent

As the superintendent you will ensure that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. In this position you will develop and implement project schedules, seek bids from contractors and vendors at a competitive price, coordinate with other project personnel to align project goals, and work with physical resources to complete repairs that require assistance. Responsibilities include coordinating with building occupants to ensure minimal disruptions, ordering needed materials and equipment, supervising site activity and quality of workmanship, resolving issues with construction (delays, emergencies, violations, etc.), and implementing a quality control program. In this role you will be expected to conduct inspections to verify safety and building code compliance, addressing deficiencies to maintain project quality, tracking costs in adherence with financial guidelines, and identifying cost-saving opportunities to maximize profitability.
In the position of superintendent, you will review and approve invoices/order changes, maintain commination with project stakeholders to provide updates, prepare and distribute progress reports, document all aspects of the project, and lead/mentor the team in project completion. Responsibilities include fostering a positive and collaborative work environment; enforcing safety standards; obtaining necessary permits and licenses; making decisions on construction methods, materials, and subcontractor selections; and anticipating potential issues to proactively correct them. It is expected that the superintendent will build positive relationships with the team and vendors, address client concerns to ensure satisfaction, stay updated on industry trends and best practices, and implement new techniques to improve project efficiency. Additional responsibilities of the superintendent include participating in post-project reviews to identify areas for improvement, adhering to all OSHA regulations and safe practices, and acting as essential personnel during emergencies.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or GED required with a minimum of three years of experience as a construction superintendent
- Proficient in reading blueprints, drawings, and specifications
- Familiarity with construction management software and tools
- Knowledge of all local, state, and federal laws and regulations required
- Excellent communication and supervisory skills
- Valid driver's license
- Must be able to pass DOT medical exam
- Less than 10%
Work Hours: The university work week is Sunday through Saturday. Most offices are open Monday through Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. To accommodate business needs, employees may be assigned to other workdays and/or hours, including weekends and evenings.
