Department/Unit: Colorectal Surgery & Urology - C2

Work Shift: Day (United States of America)

Salary Range: $34.65 - $35.69

Unit Description: The Colorectal Surgery and Urology Unit consists of 22 semi-private rooms, catering to patients who have undergone colorectal and urologic surgery. The nursing staff works closely with Wound Ostomy and Continence Nurses for ostomy and wound care needs, as well as caring for post-operative patients with TPN, NG tubes, and central lines.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, procedures and special tests and documenting treatment as required
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests to identify and assess patients' conditions
  • Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to care rendered
  • Applying sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions
  • Providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses
  • Administering over-the-counter and prescription medications as ordered
  • Collaborating with the nursing team to create a Plan of Care for all patients
  • Directing and guiding ancillary personnel and maintaining standards of professional nursing

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Obtains and maintains certification in BLS/ACLS/PALS/TNCC
  • Minimum of 1-3 years of previous clinical nursing experience in an Emergency Department
