Summary Duties and Responsibilities:

Will perform routine and non-routine activities that will assist the Superintendent in maintaining organization, order, compliance, and cleanliness on the construction job site. These activities will require physical and mental work, all of which will be at the direction of the Superintendent. The Superintendent will discuss planned activities for the day (planned activities are subject to change).

Essential Functions and Work Duties:

The following essential functions of this position are performed personally, in cooperation with the supervisor, and/or in coordination with other staff. Additional work functions and duties may be assigned.

  • Perform the following dust control duties, after obtaining training and certification from Clark County and HAND Construction Company (HCC) in dust control:
    1. Observe the site daily and always keep it in compliance with dust control standards. Dust control measures will be provided either by a third-party water tuck service or the Site Assistant will perform with the use of a fire and/or garden hose.
    2. Dust control is also the responsibility of the subcontractor and in some cases they will provide.
    3. Dust control activities will be included in the daily log of activities.
  • Perform the following Storm Water Pollution Prevention Plan (SWPPP) duties, after obtaining SWPPP training by Clark County and HCC:
    1. Observe the site daily and keep it in compliance with SWPPP regulations.
    2. SWPPP permit shall be on file at the job site.
    3. SWPPP shall be posted on the wall within the job site office/trailer.
    4. SWPPP devices shall be installed following the plan.
    5. The plan will be updated/modified to be in conformance with requirements as the site conditions change, or as directed by inspectors.
    6. SWPPP activities will be included in the daily log of activities.
  • Perform the following safety duties, after obtaining safety training by OSHA, HCC Safety Consultant, and HCC staff will be responsible to:
    1. Observe the site daily and keep it in compliance.
    2. Special attention shall be paid to fall protection and electrical hazards.
    3. Walk the entire site looking for hazards such as missing rails, exposed wires, trip hazards, broken glass, trash in walking areas, holes, unprotected trenches, boards with nails, non-compliant electrical cords, areas with overhead workers, need for fire extinguishers, unprotected stakes, or rebar, OSHA approved ladders.
    4. Safety activities shall be included in daily log of activities.
    5. Ensure workforce has proper PPE.
  • Perform the following security duties, after obtaining security training by HCC. The following activities shall be completed as the first activities every day. Any problems or concerns will be reported to the Superintendent:
    1. Observe the site daily and maintain perimeter fence, lighting, and be aware of the effectiveness of guard service.
    2. Security activities shall be included in the daily log of activities.
  • Perform the following cleaning duties:
    1. A clean site and building will be maintained daily, including scheduling dumpster pickup as needed.
    2. General production and final clean-up are subcontracted with a third-party company. The Site Assistant will always monitor the site for cleanliness.
    3. Cleaning must be done daily. All areas must be cleaned when the subcontractor does not clean the area; this includes material in pathways, food debris from workers, materials needing to be moved, and general sweeping.
    4. Cleaning activities will be included in the daily log.
  • Perform the following administrative duties as directed by the Superintendent, after obtaining training by HCC:
    1. Check that specific items are in the building or functionally operating in the building, e.g., counting items to assure that the proper number are in the building; operating windows to make sure they all work; measuring stair risers; and observing membrane penetrations.
    2. A detailed and precise list of these items will be maintained and updated as to the status of completion.
    3. Inspect buildings for any items needing installation, replacement, or repair.
    4. Checking on a variety of items: trusses, shearwalls, holddowns, framing measurements, rough openings, punch list items, etc.
  • Perform general labor duties, after obtaining training by HCC:
    1. Daily there shall be the need for physical labor, whether it is digging a ditch, general carpentry, or whatever needs to be done at the direction of the Superintendent.
    2. General labor activities will be included in the daily log.
  • Responsible for adhering to company and departmental safety policies and complying with all federal, state, and local laws about the operation of the construction site.
  • Manpower-logging all subcontractors onsite, and work performed in the daily log.
  • Walking for and scheduling inspections with AHJ and 3rd party
  • Taking daily and weekly photos of the project, organizing them, and uploading to Procore.
  • Reviewing plans and other construction documents
  • Punch lists: walking units, common areas, exterior, site and completing punch list forms, collating information, distributing to subcontractors, follow-up, verification of work completion, finalizing forms.


Other Functions and Work Duties:
  • Perform other duties as from time to time may be determined necessary for the well-being of the total operation
  • Coordinate specific work tasks with other personnel within the department as well as with other departments to ensure the smooth and accurate flow of work and information
  • Perform tasks which are supportive to the essential functions of the job, but which may be altered or re-designed upon individual circumstances

Education and/or Experience
  • High School Diploma or equivalent. Bachelor's Degree in Construction Management, Architecture, Engineering, or current enrollment in a listed degree program is preferred.
  • Previous experience in construction, customer service in construction, a construction trade, or other related experience.
  • Driver's License required.


Other Skills and Abilities
  • Math skills; oral and written communication skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Frequently performing lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling heavy work, loads or objects up to 80 lbs. utilizing safe lifting techniques.
  • Ability to withstand extended exposure to outdoor weather conditions including rain, extreme hot and cold temperatures and conditions that may include airborne particles.
  • Standing: Remaining upright on the feet, particularly for sustained periods.
  • Climbing: frequently ascending or descending ladders, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, and the like, using feet, and legs and/or hands and arms.
  • Crouching: Bending the body downward and forward by bending leg and spine.
  • Stooping: frequently bending body downward and forward by bending spine at the waist, requiring full use of the lower extremities and back muscles.
  • Kneeling: frequently bending legs at knees to come to rest on knee or knees.
  • Reaching: frequently extending hand(s) or arm(s) in any direction.
  • Balancing: Maintaining body equilibrium to prevent falling when walking, standing, or crouching on narrow, slippery, or erratically moving surfaces.
