Description

Summary / Objective

The Inventory Control Associate will work under the direction of the Store Manager and partner with procurement to set up and monitor product pricing. This position is also responsible for handling product placement/merchandising, receiving and product returns and maintaining accurate inventory integrity. The successful candidate will demonstrate flexibility with the work schedule, assigned duties as well as willingness to take on new tasks.

The following are required of successful candidates.

Essential Functions

• Attend meetings , which will give direction for upcoming promotions and direction on the execution of each event.

• Verify all pricing systemically by scanning your store per schedule implemented by procurement.

• Responsible for updating pricing on a weekly basis and downloading sale information as well as TPR's (temporary price reductions).

• Responsible for creating end caps and promoting products through shelf advertising. Merchandising to accelerate sales of underperforming product.

• Responsible for reconciling the store's bills with the received products.

• Oversee receiving of products into the store and return of merchandise to manufacturer.

• Responsible for monthly or weekly inventory cycle counts.

• Assist Store Manager with year-end physical inventory take.

• Act as a backup for cashiers as needed.

• Act as a communication link between stores and Home Office to stay abreast of upcoming events, sales or changes to pricing.

• Required to provide store coverage when needed which can include opening the store.

• Other duties, responsibilities and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

Working Conditions

Supervisory Abilities: In the absence of store leaders, this candidate will be asked to supervise the functions of the store for short periods of time. Typically, this occurs during opening or closing timeframes.

Work environment: This job operates in a retail environment with plants, chemicals, dirt and live animals.

Physical demands: This position is very active and requires standing, walking, bending, kneeling, stooping, crouching, crawling and climbing all day. The employee must frequently lift and/or move items that weigh more than 50 pounds.

Position type and expected hours of work: This is a full-time position. Candidate will be scheduled 5 shifts per week, 7am to 4pm, however this may vary depending on the needs of business. Availability to work on weekends is required. Some flexibility in hours is allowed but the employee must work 30 hours each week to maintain full-time status.

Must be comfortable opening and closing the store without supervision.

Travel: Occasional travel may be required between retail locations.

  • Excellent computer skills in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • 1-3 years in a retail environment
  • Must be organized and thorough.
  • Must be able to problem solve and think for yourself

• Strong analytical skills, with attention to detail• High degree of initiative and planning skills; self-starter• Must have the ability to work independently or in a team environment
