RESPONSIBILITIES Responsible for the analysis of product, process, equipment and method issues at designated stages of product development and manufacturing. Lead and support action to prevent and reduce all costs associated with poor quality. Work to maximize product conformance to specified requirements while ensuring best possible manufacturability. Employ Quality Engineering, Lean and Six Sigma methods/ tools to in order to maintain and improve process and product quality. Provide process efficiency and suitability analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Use the Warranty and NCP system for review and management of defective product. Support production process creation efforts in areas requiring quality control applications. Support the use of statistics for product improvement and process control (CP, Cpk). Drive corrective actions on major quality issues, providing data and Pareto analysis of problem parts and processes. Provide product reliability, design and critical feature analysis and input to product teams. Participate in product development team efforts on areas involving product quality assurance support. Act as the quality representative on Product Teams. Provide method design and impact analysis and input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Support creation (new methods) and revision (existing methods) efforts in areas with significant impact on product, process or equipment. Provide ongoing product, process, equipment and method creation/revision input to owners of quality management system element for inclusion in system documentation. Support the completeness and suitability of the QMS system in achieving Company objectives. Provide equipment capability analysis and qualification input to manufacturing engineering and production management. Provide periodic input to the Quality Engineering Manger of the ongoing incremental improvement of the Quality Engineer II function, applications and job description. Support product development, manufacturing engineering and production efforts by seeking appropriate involvement in product, process, equipment and method issues. This position reports to the Quality Engineering Manager. QUALIFICATIONS This position requires a four-year college degree plus 5 years’ experience. ASQ (or equivalent) Certified Quality Engineer certification and Six Sigma GreenBelt certification highly desired. Excellent computer literacy, word processing skills (MS Word) and spreadsheet skills (MS Excel) is needed for this position. Knowledge of databases (MS Access) is desired. Certain technical skills and training, such as quality tools and techniques, geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T), process capability theory and statistical process control (SPC) are required. Good Problem Solving skills (8D) are also required. The incumbent should have good communication skills, the ability to work effectively with people and the personal drive/sense of urgency necessary to provide needed support in the time frames demanded.
