Job Purpose: To facilitate the flow of the office by acting as a liaison between the physicians and patients by working directly with the physician to provide high quality customer service and clinical care.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Maintains confidentiality of patient information as regard to HIPAA laws
  • Performs any administrative or clinical duties as requested by the provider
  • Displays excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Meeting/Greeting/Assisting patients promptly, efficiently and in a professional manner
  • Responsible for obtaining, verifying, and inputting all information accurately in the system
  • Answer telephones promptly for nurse calls
  • Ensuring that medication refills are submitted per Avance standards and handling authorized medication refills
  • Monitoring documentation of Telephone encounters per Avance standards and Provider discretion, and workflows
  • Documentation disposition
  • Clinical support for the following but not limited to:
  • - Scribing
  • - Structured HPI data and template management
  • - IV Therapy
  • - Diabetic foot exams
  • - Device implantation
  • - Injectable education
  • - Phlebotomy
  • - Wound care
  • - Placing and running electrocardiograms
  • Creating and updating telephone encounters (TE's)
  • Distribute proper medications as ordered by the provider
  • Schedule patient tests, procedures, and hospital admissions and scheduling appointments to follow-up on tests results, as applicable
  • Maintains adequate inventory of examination room supplies and prepares exam rooms at the beginning and end of the day and between each patient contact.
  • Obtains all necessary patient records as required by physician and verifies presence of consent prior to treatment or procedures
  • Escorts patients to and from exam and treatment rooms, as appropriate
  • Records patient data prior to the provider visit, including but not limited to vital signs, height, weight, allergies, and medication changes
  • Performs variety of office responsibilities: answers phones and takes messages and performs triage within scope of licensed practical nursing practice in an accurate and timely manner.
Qualifications:
  • Graduate of an accredited school of licensed practical nursing
  • Current North Carolina practical nurse license
  • 1-2 years' experience in primary care or ambulatory care, preferred
  • Avance Care Competency Check
  • - Medication Knowledge Assessment
  • - Vaccination Knowledge Assessment
  • - All clinical tasks directly involving patients are allowed only after a competency check, formal approval by the supervising physician, and after an order from the on-duty provider.
