ResponsibilitiesCandidate will oversee the performance, integrity, and security of multiple classified mission databases, handling a variety of data types from diverse sources. The Database Analyst will play a critical role in managing, maintaining, and standardizing mission data capture, manipulation, and archival, as well as facilitating access to stored data. As steward of the database environment, candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing efficient data storage and retrieval strategies, running complex data queries, and generating data-driven insights to support organizational decision-making processes. Ensuring data standardization, security, and compliance with best practices and applicable regulations will be central to the role, as will the identification and resolution of any data-related issues.
Primary tasks include:
* Database Maintenance: Regularly monitor, maintain, and update organizational databases and stored procedures to ensure optimal performance and data accuracy.
* Data Standardization: Implement and enforce data standardization rules across multiple databases.
* Query Execution: Run complex SQL queries to extract, manipulate, and analyze data based on user requirements or organizational needs.
* Report Generation: Develop and deliver data reports to inform mission analysis and support decision-makers.
* Data Transformation and Inclusion: Receive new data types and find innovative ways to ingest it into established and/or newly developed database structures, without compromising its integrity.
* Data Archival: Archive older data in line with organizational policies, ensuring it remains accessible, but does not slow down active database performance.
* Automated Task Programming: Write scripts or code to automate routine database management tasks, improving efficiency and reducing the potential for human error.
* Data Visualization: Provide backend support to comprehensive data visualizations to aid predictive analysis and simulate outcomes.
* Process Improvement: Continually assess and improve data usage in modeling and simulation processes to increase efficiency and accuracy, incorporating new methods or technologies as appropriate. Assist development of tools and processes to include tailored visualizations, user experience and interfaces, automation of manual workflows, multi-system integration, and after-action review products.
Required Skills:
* Minimum of 5 years of relavant experience.
* Solid knowledge of database theory, including the principles of database design, data modeling, and normalization.
* Strong understanding of database theory, including the principles of database design, data modeling, and normalization.
* At least 5+ years of experience and demonstrated proficiency with tools such as Oracle, MySQL, phpMyAdmin, SQL Server, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, etc.
* Experience with data visualization tools like Tableau, Power BI, or Excel.
* Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and draw meaningful conclusions.
* Detail-oriented mindset, with a strong focus on accuracy and quality of work, and the ability to flexibility with to rapidly changing information and requirements.
* Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively within a team environment.
Desired Skills:
* Experience automating workflows and processes with programming languages and data transformation tools (Python, R, C#, VBA, Excel, etc.).
* Familiarity with tools such as AFSIM, EXTENDSIM, SIMDIS, and/or STK.
* Working knowledge of military operations and /exercise planning, dynamic targeting, intelligence operations, and sensor-to-shooter methodologies.
Education Requirements:
* Bachelor's degree in a quantitative field such as Mathematics, data science, or related disciplines required. Master's degree desired.
* Experience will be considered in lieu of formal education.
Travel Requirements:
Routine travel is expected. Candidates should anticipate one week per month. Non-traditional work hours may be required. Expectation is that work will be performed onsite. Occasional telework options may be available with approval from mission partner.
Clearance Requirements:
Current Top Secret (TS) Security Clearance with SCI eligibility and the ability to obtain access to Special Access Program (SAP), Special Access Required (SAR), and Special Technical Operations (STO) required.
U.S. Citizenship is required.
