The Division of Adult Institution is recruiting to fill a Teacher (Math/Science) position . This position is based out of Oakhill Correctional Institution (Oregon, WI, Dane County).

Position Summary

The instructor will arrange and take part in the evaluation of students, provide instruction in Adult Basic Education and serve as an instruction/departmental liaison for students entering school. This position is one of the primary providers of GED/HSED/509 classes. Oakhill Correctional Institution is a minimum-security correctional institution for adult males.

Salary Information

This position is in pay schedule and range 13-04 with a starting pay rate of $29.13 per hour, plus excellent benefits. Candidates may receive supplemental pay, up to $2.97/hr., for additional credits relevant to the position that are over & above the credits needed for certification

Pay on appointment for current state employees may vary according to the applicable pay transaction provisions of the compensation plan and Wisconsin Administrative Code. A 12-month probationary period may be required.

Job Details

Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States (i.e. a citizen or national of the U.S., a lawful permanent resident, or an alien authorized to work in the U.S. without DOC sponsorship) at the time of application.

The Department of Corrections may conduct pre-employment drug screens. Any applicant who is offered employment in a position which requires a pre-employment drug screen must pass the screen as a contingency of employment.

The Department of Corrections will conduct criminal background checks on applicants prior to selection. Upon hire, all new DOC employees are subject to fingerprinting.

Remote work is not available for this position.

Qualifications

Teacher credentials must meet criteria determined by Wisconsin Technical College System (WTCS/Madison College). Applicants meet one of the three areas listed below in order to be eligible and move forward in the selection process:
  1. BA or higher in Secondary Education in area of Math or Science.
  2. BA or higher with Minor in Math or Science.
OR
  1. BA or higher with 15 combined credits in Math and Science.
