UACHS is seeking a dedicated and passionate Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) to join our team. The SAC plays a vital role in fostering a safe and supportive learning environment by identifying and addressing the academic, social, emotional, and behavioral needs of our high school students. This position requires a qualified and experienced professional to collaborate with school staff, families, and community partners to ensure the well-being and success of all students.

Responsibilities
  • Direct Student Support:
    • Conduct individual assessments to identify students experiencing academic difficulties, substance abuse, mental health concerns, bullying, or other challenges.
    • Provide short-term counseling and referrals to appropriate resources for students in need.
    • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, social workers, and administrators to develop and implement intervention plans for at-risk students.
    • Facilitate student support groups on topics such as study skills, stress management, and social-emotional learning.
  • Collaboration and Prevention:
    • Develop and implement school-wide programs on topics related to student well-being, such as substance abuse prevention, suicide prevention, and bullying prevention.
    • Train school staff on identifying and responding to student concerns.
    • Partner with parents and families to provide support and resources for students facing challenges.
    • Collaborate with community agencies and mental health professionals to ensure access to comprehensive services for students.
  • Data and Reporting:
    • Maintain accurate and confidential student records in accordance with state and federal regulations.
    • Track and analyze data related to student interventions and support services.
    • Prepare reports for school administration and collaborate on program improvement initiatives.
Qualifications
  • Hold a New Jersey Standard Student Assistance Coordinator (SAC) endorsement (3461).
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience working with adolescents in a school setting or related field (e.g., social work, mental health counseling).
  • Strong understanding of adolescent development and mental health issues.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to build rapport with students, parents, and school staff.
  • Proficient in the use of technology for data collection, record keeping, and communication.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and work within ethical guidelines.
