PHSU SCHOOL OF MEDICINE

PHSU St. Louis opened the new School of Medicine (opening Fall 2022) as part of a multi-million educational investment in north St. Louis. The new campus could support up to 1,200 students and create 120 new staff and faculty jobs in St. Louis.

With the expansion of our medical program in St. Louis, we will put action behind our vision of providing real education and research opportunities in a community dedicated to addressing and impacting health disparities on local and national levels. PHSU is thrilled to continue our mission to give more students from diverse socioeconomic backgrounds access to high-quality medical education and careers.

PHSU St. Louis currently also offers PsyD and MSMS programs.

ABOUT THE ROLE

The IT Specialist is responsible for setting up, managing, and troubleshooting the technology systems used by businesses to maintain computer and software networks. The IT Specialist ensures smooth operations, security, and efficient IT management. They are the go-to experts for resolving technical challenges and maintaining reliable systems.

Essential Functions

  1. System Setup and Management:
  • Installing and configuring computer systems, servers, and network devices.
  • Monitoring and maintaining network connectivity and internet access.
  • Ensuring stable operation of all IT systems, including desktops, laptops, and servers.
  • Managing network components, such as Microsoft 365/SharePoint, shared directories, user access, security, software, and file services.
  • Work on various IT projects as assigned
  1. Troubleshooting and Support:
  • Responding to hardware issues promptly.
  • Updating system software to keep it current.
  • Tracking data and communications within the network.


  1. Security and Privacy:
  • Ensuring security measures are in place.
  • Monitoring security certificates and ensuring compliance with requirements.
  • Protecting corporate data privacy.


  1. Budget and Inventory:
  • Staying within budget while allocating costs for necessary updates and upgrades.
  • Maintain an inventory for IT equipment, including employee computers.
  • Develop and implement an inventory refresh policy and schedule

Supervisor Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. This position involves sitting at a desk for long periods of time.

Position Type/Expected Days of Work

This is a full-time position. Days of work are Monday through Friday, with occasional nonstandard hours and weekends.

Required Education and Experience

Bachelor from a recognized university preferred; minimum four years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Experience in a higher education setting, Anthology, or Canvas preferred.
