Job Description:
The Mechanical Engineer will design functional, reliable, and cost-effective components for heavy-duty vehicles. This role involves performing engineering analysis, redesign, and development of components for both existing and new vehicles. The engineer will support the integration and execution of vehicle and component designs, ensuring high standards of performance, safety, and reliability.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct engineering calculations, investigations, and assigned tasks in accordance with company and industry standards.
- Support senior engineers in preparing plans, designs, computational methods, and reports.
- Manage projects or segments of projects with varying complexity, including multiple simultaneous projects.
- Collaborate with internal engineering teams, business support disciplines, and external suppliers.
- Mentor and guide entry-level engineers, designers, or technicians on common projects.
- Maintain effective communication with suppliers, customers, and external resources regarding technical issues.
- Enforce the use of engineering criteria and drawing standards, adhering to company policies and procedures.
- Evaluate designs for performance, safety, and reliability.
- Prepare layouts, drawings, specifications, and bills of material.
- Conduct engineering analysis to select parts, components, and materials that meet project requirements.
- Provide technical assistance for production support and resolve engineering issues.
- Prepare technical proposals, quotations, reports, and presentations.
- Maintain project documentation for analysis, research, and historical records.
- Utilize analytical and mathematical approaches to model system performance and optimize designs.
- Ensure regular attendance and participate in other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field.
- A minimum of three (3) years of relevant experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Accredited Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
- Knowledge of automotive or heavy-vehicle equipment and related systems.
- Proficiency with high-level CAD systems.

Capable of writing routine reports, correspondence, and delivering presentations to internal and external groups. Can analyze and interpret business manuals, technical procedures, scientific and technical journals, financial reports, and legal documents.
- **Decision-Making**: Regularly makes responsible decisions involving the evaluation of information. This may include developing or applying alternatives or precedents.
- **Complexity, Judgment, and Problem Solving**: Handles moderately difficult work requiring judgment in adapting and interpreting established practices and procedures.
- **Supervisory/Managerial**: Instruct, schedule, and review the work of others performing similar or directly related work. Acts as a lead worker.
