You will be responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining safety programs, policies, and procedures to mitigate risks and promote a culture of safety excellence within the organization. Your expertise will be essential in identifying potential hazards, conducting thorough risk assessments, and providing proactive solutions to enhance workplace safety and compliance with regulatory requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Safety Program Development:

- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to develop and implement comprehensive safety programs, policies, and procedures tailored to the specific needs and challenges of the oil and gas industry.

- Conduct regular reviews and updates of safety protocols to reflect changing regulatory requirements, industry best practices, and emerging risks.

- Ensure alignment of safety initiatives with corporate goals and objectives, promoting a culture of safety awareness and accountability at all levels of the organization.

2. Risk Assessment and Mitigation:

- Identify potential safety hazards and assess associated risks in all operational activities, including drilling, production, transportation, and maintenance processes.

- Develop risk management strategies and control measures to minimize exposure to occupational hazards, environmental risks, and process safety incidents.

- Provide technical expertise and guidance on the selection and implementation of engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), and other safety measures to mitigate identified risks.

3. Compliance and Regulatory Oversight:

- Monitor regulatory developments and industry trends to ensure compliance with federal, state, and local safety regulations, codes, and standards applicable to the oil and gas sector.

- Conduct periodic audits, inspections, and assessments to verify compliance with safety requirements and identify areas for improvement.

- Interface with regulatory agencies, industry groups, and stakeholders to maintain a proactive approach to safety compliance and regulatory advocacy.

4. Training and Education:

- Develop and deliver comprehensive safety training programs, workshops, and seminars for employees, contractors, and third-party service providers.

- Foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development by providing resources, tools, and opportunities for skill enhancement in safety-related competencies.

- Evaluate the effectiveness of training initiatives through assessments, feedback mechanisms, and performance metrics to drive continuous improvement in safety performance.

5. Incident Investigation and Analysis:

- Lead investigations into safety incidents, near misses, and accidents to identify root causes, contributing factors, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

- Prepare detailed incident reports and recommendations for management review, regulatory reporting, and insurance claims processing.

- Facilitate lessons learned sessions and disseminate findings to stakeholders to enhance organizational learning and prevent future incidents.

Qualifications:

- Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, Environmental Science, or related field; advanced degree or professional certification (e.g., CSP, CIH, CHMM) preferred.

- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in safety management, risk assessment, and regulatory compliance within the oil and gas industry.

- Demonstrated expertise in interpreting and applying safety regulations, standards, and guidelines, including OSHA, EPA, DOT, and API requirements.

- Proven track record of developing and implementing effective safety programs and initiatives in a complex industrial environment.

- Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess and mitigate a wide range of occupational hazards and operational risks.

- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels of the organization.

- Proficiency in conducting incident investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning.

- Familiarity with industry-specific technologies, processes, and equipment used in upstream, midstream, and downstream operations.

- Ability to travel to various field locations and work in challenging environments as needed.
