Location This position is based out of our office in Chicago, IL. Responsibilities • Discover opportunities to collaborate in a team environment to understand client needs, prepare deliverables, and provide project updates. • Establish design criteria based on industry, company, and/or client standards. • Create computer models of overhead electric transmission lines and structures in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE and PLS TOWER. • Assemble drawings, specifications, and design criteria for the procurement of tubular steel structures, lattice towers, and transmission line hardware. Review the vendor supplied calculations and drawings for compliance. • Develop construction packages for internal construction crews and client contractors that include plan & profiles, staking sheets, bill of materials, structure details, foundation drawings, and installation specifications. • Present to management, analyze PLS-CADD reports, formulate design aids, and draft reports using Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, PowerPoint, Power BI, and Yammer). • Participate in peer reviews to meet quality expectations and client standards to build a culture of excellence and continuous improvement. • Visit construction sites, meet in client offices, and travel out of town to tour supplier facilities as required by projects and assignments. Qualifications • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field • At least 2 years’ experience designing transmission lines between 69kV and 345kV • Engineer-In-Training (EIT) certification (or successful completion of FE exam) preferred • Experience in PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE • Knowledge of MFAD, LPILE, and geotechnical recommendation application for foundation design, preferred • Knowledge of client and industry standards, including NESC, ASCE, IEEE, and RUS #LI-RF1 Other Requirements: • Regular, reliable attendance • Work productively and meet deadlines timely • Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment. • Perform work safely and effectively.
