Halff Associates has an open position for an entry-level Environmental Scientist at our Jacksonville, FL location. Recent graduates with limited experience will be considered.
Our team of Environmental Scientists offers expertise in natural resources impact analysis and permitting as well as environmental due diligence investigations for a wide variety of clients and locations. The appropriately qualified applicant will need to demonstrate a willingness to join an established team of professionals and contribute to the success of that team. This position will assist with the collection and preparation of information as it pertains to the local, state, and federal regulation of natural resources. There will be an emphasis on field work as it pertains to wetland delineations, habitat assessments, and general plant surveys, supporting all Halff offices. A qualified applicant must be able to work in adverse weather conditions and capable of, at times, strenuous field work.
Environmental Scientist Qualifications:
- Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in biology, natural resources management, or related field
- Up to 3 years of experience in collection and preparation of information as it pertains to the local, state, and federal regulation of natural resources
- Basic awareness of ArcGIS and GPS technology, is preferred
- Provide support to multi-disciplinary teams in delivering solutions to clients
- Excellent research, analytical, and written and oral communication skills
- Positive attitude, initiative, and ability to work with multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability and willingness to travel as needed
- Work in diverse and challenging environmental conditions, including:
- Extreme weather (heat, cold, rain, lightning)
- Wet or swampy terrains
- Potential hazards such as wildlife (e.g., snakes, wild hogs), insects (e.g., mosquitoes, ticks, wasps, hornets), and vegetation (e.g., poison ivy, briars)
